College Life: Pros and Cons

Overall Rating
My overall experience at GGDSD college is excellent. The staff, the students, and the faculty members; everyone is good. The social environment of the college is also good and students get various opportunities to enjoy the college life besides studying by participating in different programmes and showcase their talents and skills.
 

Academics Rating
I opted for MA Economics. Minimum requirements for this course are graduation level with 55% marks and 12th and 10 with the same percentage. Admissions are mostly on merit basis. The quota system is only to a limited extent. It is a first come first serve basis. So if you have an academically strong background, then you can opt for the same.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty members are highly qualified and are Ph.D holders. They have a strong interaction with the students and help them understand the concepts much better by giving them examples from real life situations so that they can relate well with the topics and understand the issues more clearly with in depth knowledge of the topic.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, there is a Placement Cell but I didn't opt for any of the internships and placements and don't have much knowledge about the same.
 

Hostel Rating
No, I didn't opt for hostel. But there are separate hostels for boys and girls. The infrastructure and hostel conditions are good and the food is hygienic and good quality. Security guards are there for restrictions and taking care of the students.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The academic blocks are different according to different streams. There is a university of Fraser Valley for foreign students. The admin block is well built. Classes are neat and clean. Lights and fans are all of good quality. Classes are aided with smart boards to provide practical knowledge to the students.
 

Campus Rating
Overall, the campus life is great and the crowd and the social environment are also good. Various fests, cultural programmes, sports meet, and functions of different departments are being conducted to enhance the skills and talents of the students. Library also conducts different book fests and prizes are given to students who get achievements.

    I had heard that this is one of the best colleges in Chandigarh with the best crowd and faculty. I will say that the crowd and the campus life in itself is a vibe. The clubs, societies, and the festivals are amazing. I chose psychology and I definitely am satisfied with the faculty of my department, most of them are very helpful and so I honestly do not regret choosing this college.     SD College is a dream destination for the people living anywhere in the world. You will find majority of people from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, Jammu, U.P, Mohali, Chandigarh, etc. The student ratio includes more number of girls than boys. The crowd is very friendly and amiable. Everybody seems nice and kind. The college is affiliated to Punjab University, and the curriculum works according to the university norms and procedures.     After my boards result, the first thing I did was to find the best college in Chandigarh and then I came to know about GGDSD Chandigarh. It was my first preference and I was satisfied with my decision as soon as I saw people with great talent and academics were here is my class.     The infrastructure is nice and the teachers are experienced and well versed in their respective subjects. The placement cell works hard to provide campus recruitment to final year students. Many MNCs and other reputed companies come to the campus for placement drives with attractive packages. There are many fests organised.
