Prestige Institute of Management and Research MBA Review By Vandana Patel

Indore being my maternal uncle town and also my summer vacation holiday destination, MBA from Indore was in my destiny, I guess. Prestige College Indore is one of the best and has the best crowd among Management colleges in Indore. The only concern I would say is was the number of students in MBA class. 80 students in each class were quite high and because of that student sometimes felt missed out on putting forward their point. I certainly felt so and so did many of my friends. The placements were fine and I would say Prestige Institute of Management and Research was more of a pepped college. There’s a myth that central India colleges are not that happening and that there are not many activities in the colleges. I would recommend all those who think so to visit PIMR Indore once. Not just PIMR but there are many colleges in Indore that have activities throughout the year. PIMR doesn’t have many students from other states and being only 1 of 3 girls from other states, we did have some extra attention not just from the students of the college but also from the faculty members as well.

Marketing can’t be learned through books and the soft skills required for it needed a lot more. The college has industrial tie-ups and because coming from a college that was known for hospitality, I chose Hyatt as my preferred internship company. The course was in 4 semesters and the last semester was literally chilling as I was already hired by my intern company and getting passing marks was the only thing left to be done. I participated in various extra-curricular activities during those 2 years and even taught Garba to my friends in Indore.

The faculty here were graduated from top colleges in India and were also rich in experience. They tried to be a little strict but since was against the nature of most of them, things started easing once we all got to know each other. One can ask them as many questions they want in the classrooms because they were not approachable beyond that point. Fair enough though because classes were lengthy and taking 20 minutes out from a one-hour class for clearing the doubts was never a big deal. Internal markings depend on how you share the rapport with the faculty members. One should keep this thing in mind as practical’s weightage was 20%.

As soon as the third semester started, the queue for placement started. We were given ample choices to choose from various industries. Hospitality, Banking, Insurance, IT, and FMCG sectors were the ones we had to choose from. We were trained even before the internship because this was an opportunity for us to impress the company and get hired directly. Half the students made most of the opportunity and got placed in their internship company. For the others too the placement cell organized interviews with their preferred sector companies. The placement was not 100% but maximum students had the placement and that too with a decent salary.

PIMR hostels are not inside the campus and this is why my maternal uncle didn’t allow me to stay at the hostel. Both the boy's and girl's hostel are near the campus and one can take an auto and reach the college in 5-10 minutes. I have no idea about the kind of facilities that were there but if one can afford AC rooms, then the hostel had some rooms with AC.

The college campus is quite small but has all the facilities inside. The college location is posh and Bombay hospital is next to the college which is the biggest landmark to reach the college. The college has one of the best libraries and is opened from 8 am to 6 pm. PIMR’s computer lab was one of the most advanced Computer labs I have seen with over 100 pcs. The main building has an auditorium that was also used for audiovisual quizzes and other events that took place in the college. The tidiness though is questionable as Indore has been awarded the cleanest city award numerous times but the college is not that clean. You will see piece of garbage’s on floors and even the canteen is not that neat. The college has a badminton court, TT room, and a small cricket ground.

The fees of MBA was cheap in comparison to many other private colleges. Students of various backgrounds study at the college and equal opportunities are provided to all. College’s annual fest, Manthan was as amazing as anything as it had cultural programs to modern dance shows. Students were given the liberty to provide their things in the roster and the nod from the HOD was just a mere formality as they backed students in showing all that they got. It was lovely to be a part of a college that gave me a good career opportunity. One will feel secured inside the campus as it had enough security guards to control things. PIMR has a strict attendance issue and therefore you need to be attentive at the college.
