There are two campuses of this college, north campus and south campus. South campus is located inside the city while North campus is located in the outskirts of city. North campus consists of software branches like CSE, AIML, and ISE. South campus has ECE, MECH, and EEE. The south campus is the main campus, built 75 years ago. North is typically a new campus. I’m a CSE student from north campus, I chose this college because of the reputation it had and that was the biggest mistake. If you're joining NIE in software branches then you might stop for a second. The North campus is not that good option.

But the papers are generated here itself by NIE faculty and corrected by the same. VTU syllabus is known for its old school subjects and teaching methods and it’s also difficult, on top the papers generated here are more difficult than other VTU colleges. NIE provides you with B.E, M.Tech and MCA programs.

You'll find all types of faculty here. In a semester you'll have 8 subjects so you will be learning from 8-12 professors (considering the lab faculty) roughly. Few professors are graduates of esteemed colleges like NITs and IIITs. Most of them don’t hold Ph.D, they are still pursuing it. Most of them are graduates of top 20 colleges of Karnataka and NIE itself.

Our batch has a total of 650 students in software branches. It’s less and moreover competitive. Placements have been going down from past 3 years.

Hostels are decent.

The north campus consists of a lab building and an academic building (where all the classes are held). Then you have library building which also withholds CAED lab. Both the campuses lack infrastructure. There are no separate buildings for departments. Infrastructure of the college is not good. South campus has a diamond jubilee block used for sports and events and golden jubilee block used for academics.

The overall all campus life is boring. There are literally zero cultural clubs. No dance club, no music club, no fashion club. You'll find few clubs like IEEE, GDSC, Onyx, Credit circle, Aerotantrix, edsoc and robotics. Most of the club events happen in south campus. The annual fest Technieks is also a boring event.
