Auro University B.Des Review By Swati Bhadauria

Auro University started in 2011, and in just ten years, the University has become one of the best private universities in Gujarat. I was interested in Designing, and apart from Auro, there were hardly any colleges that offered the designing course. The fee was on the higher side, but the luxury of studying in Auro made up the cost that it took. Auro is mainly known for the Hotel Management course, but the other courses are also not that far behind. The campus was huge, and facilities were ample. The professors of the college were nice to interact with. Their knowledge was quite handy while graduating. Also, if the web is to be believed, Auro is not just the first but the only private University of South Gujarat to have been recognized by UGC. Thus, a degree from Auro will always be regarded. I would recommend Auro as one can have as much as fun they need along with studies. Secondly, the crowd of Auro is best among the colleges of Surat, as most students escape from Surat to study in Mumbai, Pune, or Bangalore. Auro has made students stick to Surat, and only Surti’s will understand the importance of Auro University in their city.

No attendance problem as it is left to students whether they want to study or not. Passing is also quite easy as just show your face and some practical skills and you will get good numbers. In the semester exams, most of the questions that will come are known already. One can call it cheating but its good that the passing percentage at Auro is nearly 90. All these things didn’t bothered me, nor it my fellow classmates as we all enjoyed education and other activities that were on offer.

Knowledgeable is the best word for them. I have a firm belief that a piece of paper can’t help you understand as much as your teacher’s knowledge can. For designing some of the bests were hired who trained us massively to take the course seriously and where to enroll for further studies. The college’s long hours never looked boring as 10 to 5 was almost like a job, but the campus and, more importantly, the faculty made everything so cheerful that I hardly skipped my college. Faculties have played a huge role in B.Des getting recognition and students as the course never had seats filled up till 2017. Things have changed drastically in last few years, and at the rate with which the designing course of Auro is in demand, they will probably have to seek permissions to increase the number of seats.

Surat has a lot of demand for designing students, and obviously there are no big names outside Surat, but still, they asked the University to send the best name for interview. Students were sent for interview directly at their offices as none of them came to campus. I had my ambitions higher, but those who needed placements or already had their own firms were quite happy with learning and placement procedures. I had friends in other departments and feel sorry for them because their placements were slim to none in their department.

Auro university’s hostels are big rooms or studio apartments in a way. There are boys and girls hostel inside the campus and from 2015 to 2018, number of students staying in hostel also increased. Girls hostel rules were quite strict, but boys can go out for as long as they wanted. Wardens and guards all knew about it but students staying in hostels are mostly from privileged families so bribing middle-class people like guards and wardens was easy for them. The same luxury was not available for girls, though, as CCTV cameras were installed and any mishap could have cost warden their jobs.

The campus was huge and very huge as it can give a stiff competition to SGVNU campus in terms of area. However, in terms of facilities there’s no comparison at all. The college is beautiful and is like a resort where one can go on a holiday. Recreation facilities for both boys and girls were amazing as one has to be a member of a clubhouse to avail such facilities. The canteen was superb as the University is way outside the city. Development has reached until there, so in coming years, one will see many malls on the way to the University. Most students used to travel with their own vehicles as taking an auto or taxi to the university daily can cost a lot. The University has an open amphitheater and an air-conditioned seminar hall. I can go on and on as infrastructure was another level.

The crowd was fun as no bullying or shit happened at the University. Misbehave or getting physical with other students was simply not allowed. There were such instances, and those students were discarded for a semester. Talking about the good things, the University has events every now and then. One has to be ready as their chance can come in at any point in time. I would recommend Auro for Designing if not for other courses.
