Auro University BBA Review By Akash Singh

Auro University was established recently and therefore has the latest infrastructure. After my 12th, my relatives in Gujarat asked me to come there and thank God I went there. I was below average in studies and scored just 39% in my H.S.C. exams. My parents were worried will I get the admission or not but Auro accepted students like us with open arms. Since the University is private and also new not many students enroll in the college and therefore I got the admission easily. Students were just like me who had creative mind but were not studious. Not many people from outside Gujarat were there in my batch as students mostly from nearby district such as Bharuch, Navsari, and Vadodara came to study in this college.

There were 2 sections for BBA and each section has 60 students in BBA. The student teacher ratio is excellent as it was around 11:1 and therefore students can’t hide from teachers. The college has all the latest facilities and the campus is vast. The college fest earth is organized by students themselves and the teachers have given the complete liberty to the students. Fresher’s party was organized in the campus itself by the students and was fun. The college is great and is suited for the ones who haven’t scored well and want to study management.

The classrooms are digital and one can expect that as the college is new. The syllabus focuses on building student’s intellectual level rather than just focusing on the theory set. The teachers were nice and were always up for help. Scoring good numbers will take some doing but passing is easy as one just has to focus in the prelim exams as most of the questions were from those exams itself.

The practical were useful as students were distributed in teams and were given tasks. There were monthly tasks and they were compulsory as the marks were added in the finals. This was the best part as practical sessions were fun. Most of the students are average and therefore the syllabus is in accordance and the teachers to take care in making sure that question papers are not set tough. The course is divided in 6 semesters and the passing result was over 90% during our batch.

The ratio has already been discussed and the teachers too are great. Yes won’t find IIM or some famous colleges in their portfolio but still are good enough to take care of the students. The college timings are from 11am to 5 pm and sometimes they used to extend that as well. The syllabus wasn’t that vast and therefore the professors never rushed in completing the course. They also used to crack jokes in the classes and their teaching methods were also innovative. They always use to tell the importance of practical’s and also taught us the importance of them.

The faculty also used to encourage the students to showcase the student’s other skills during the fest. Many colleges from Gujarat came and participated during our college fest. We won most of them and that’s because we had a home advantage. In short, the faculty was kind enough to the students and took interest in student’s activities.

I don’t whether it is applicable for our University. I have already mentioned that the University is new and also the students who enroll here are average. Therefore on the basis of marks we don’t even qualify to get placed. The college also doesn’t have any placement cell but we were told that the college is working towards that and hopefully will have one in future.

To be honest in this competitive world where all the organizations thrive for the best our college don’t produce the best of students and we were satisfied even after not getting any such opportunities. Off campus too you will not find any job based on your certificate from Auro University. Hence, higher studies were the only option left or join family business was the other option.

The college has 2 huge hostels. Both in opposite directions as one is boy’s hostel and one is girl’s hostel. After staying 2 years at my relatives place, I finally decided to experience the hostel life. I must say I will always be proud of my decision as the hostel was hotel. The hostel fees during our time was Rs. 80.000 per year. The number is staggering but if you compare it with the facilities that the college provides you will have no complaints whatsoever. The hostel was on twin sharing basis and the rooms were huge. The bathrooms too were nice and have a nice glass and basin.

In the brochure it’s written that the timings are strict but I never faced that. One can go out as per their will but for that you have to bribe the warden and watchman. You can smoke easily in the hostel rooms and no one will ever complaint. The only strictness that I witnessed there was girls were not allowed in 100m area of the boys hostel and vice-versa. The hostel building also has 2 TV areas and students are up till late night watching TV. Also there is a playroom inside the hostel building and 3 carrom boards and 2 table tennis tables are there. How can I forget about the food? The menu is different and on occasions we were served desserts as well. Hence, the hostel was amazing and one can have a great time at the hostel. If you are coming from outside try to find accommodate in hostel itself.

This is an area where Auro University Surat scores 11 on 10. Undoubtedly the best campus in South Gujarat. Spread across 40 acres and little far away from the city. The campus is lush green and there are three blocks in the campus. One is admin block and the other two for classes of respective courses. The wash rooms were clean and nice and each floor had separate boys and girls wash room. The campus has a huge auditorium hall and a large parking space. Since most of the students were from well to do family there was an ample car parking space. The college also has an open hall and all the functions and activities were held on the open stage. The lighting in the campus was mindboggling as during night it becomes impossible to identify our own campus.

The college campus also has 2 hostel buildings as well. The college’s buildings are new and have all the facilities one can ask for. RO water purifier in each buildings and a huge library that has nearly 50k volumes. The college campus certainly justifies the high fees of the college. Tree plantation is something that the college promotes and every year we celebrate the grow more tress fest where the students are asked to plant trees. In 10 years from now you will find over 500 trees in the campus. The college is far from hustle and bustle of the city and one can smell purity while in the campus. The college also has a nice little canteen and one can get coffees, burgers and colas at reasonable price. Also there’s an open cafeteria in the college where students after bunking the classes spend their time. That area is mostly crowded as bunking is common. The college also has a huge playground and cricket and football was played frequently by the students. The college also hosts a sports week and many students participate in that. What else can be said the college may be average in terms of studies and other parameters but is at par in terms of infrastructure.

The college never felt like a college. It felt like a paradise as the college campus is no less than a heaven. The life at the campus was easy as we used to come college an hour before to spend some time with friends. Even if he has decided to bunk the classes we will still end up spending the time in the campus. That’s because the campus was that good. From sporting facilities to canteen’s coffee everything was excellent. The teachers were nice and the students as I said before were mostly from well-to-do family. The seniors didn’t show their authority and were easy to talk to. The only complaint that I had was that Surat has a cosmopolitan crowd but in college 80% of the students were Gujarati. Though it didn’t bothered me much as no one made me feel like an outsider and were always accommodating. The college fest was something and I participated in all three years.

During the sports week all the students and teachers were on ground and encouraged students to participate. This is something which I liked the most about the college. The college made sure that students get every opportunity to showcase their talent. Some girls from our college have also went on to become a model and for some reasons I can’t take their names. In college campus everyone was treated the same and there was never any fight which is common in college. The girls can actually enjoy as much as boys and this is something which Uttar Pradesh colleges should learn from. The Navratri week which was celebrated just once during my time was something which I will never ever forget. If I sum it up altogether one thing that I would make it clear is, if you are an average student and are loaded well in terms of bank balance, don’t go anywhere else. If you have scored well and actually want to do something that your study can take you to, don’t join this college. It’s as simple as that.
