Graphic Era University B.Tech Review By Sumit R

I am currently studying here in Graphic Era Dehradun, to be honest; it is among the best colleges of Uttarakhand. I have my friends studying other colleges of Uttarakhand, and comparatively, Graphic Era provides the best features to all of its students. I am pursuing my B.Tech from here in the computer science branch and I have learned a lot here. I am currently in my second year, preparing for internships. I have heard from our seniors, if you have mastered the necessary skills, the college brings some good companies for internships and you can grab those internships in no time.

I didn’t score very well in my JEE attempt. I didn’t want to take a drop but I wanted to pursue engineering therefore I joined Graphic Era Dehradun. The admission process is simple here, you also get a scholarship on being a Uttarakhand resident. Computer science engineering from this college is a good choice. Also like other engineering colleges, the Graphic Era doesn’t provide many courses in B.Tech. There are only two courses currently, IT and CSE. Although they differ from each other very much in terms of syllabus and fees structure, they still run on different schedules. In each class, we had almost 60 students, which is a good strength but sometimes feel crowded.

The faculty here is good. They are doing exceptionally well in teaching us. Moreover, during our first semester, we had a chance to get introductions from our professors and other professors who will not teach us but will be with us as advisors and guide. It was very good to know that most of the professors are IIT pass out and many of there had done PhD in engineering too. Initially, it felt like a privileged to be here under such faculty staff.

We haven’t got to see our own placements season yet but however we have heard so much from our college’s placements from our seniors, professors and there are so many advertisements showing our college’s placements in tech giants like Google, etc. I will go for my internship next year. We have been informed on how to grab internships directly through on-campus. I am hoping to land a great internship that could offer me a pre-placement. Our college is planning to land maximum percentage of students into good placements which is looking very much possible in such an environment of this college.

I reside in Uttarakhand but I live in Haldwani which comes under the Nainital district. For me to buy a room on rent there didn’t feel like a good option therefore I previously opted for hostel. The hostels are awesome. They are way better than any hostel the government college offers. We had beautiful, neat & clean rooms. Our rooms had great features like Amirah for each student, broad bed, study table, night canteen, round tables in mess for small groups which were helpful, and much more. One can get a good vibe of home from Graphic Era’s hostel. You have to pay 1.5L for hostel services each year. Also, you would not get discount on hostel charges.

The building of our college is very modern. Classrooms are modern and the tables are arranged in the ladder form which makes the class environment livelier, as each student is clearly visible to professors and vice versa. I feel like this type of classroom which was not in our schools to be a great option. Soon our classes became running on the online mode which took so much fun from us. There are plenty of cafeterias eating shops inside the campus and outside the campus. Outside the campus, there is more freedom and more options to decide where to go for eating.

In our very first semester, we had been into so many events and fests. Fests are a great source of meeting new people here. Generally, the campus doesn’t offer so many courses, therefore, you could meet a maximum of the people from B.Tech only. The senior-junior environment here is also nice. Seniors don’t rag here like you can hear in most of the engineering colleges. You can go trekking in nearby places like Roorkee, Mussoorie, Dehradun, etc. these places used to be our favorite spots of hangout.
