National Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Zaid Rangrez

In terms of infrastructure and architecture, my college resides on the top portion of our country. NIT Hamirpur is situated on a hill top of district Hamirpur and surrounded by a forest with old classically built building. The second thing which I like most in my college is the helping nature of the seniors and facilities towards the juniors. Seniors helps juniors in all aspects either it is academics or it is personal problem. The disappointment which I get in my college is regarded to placement. As because my course EP is new in NIT Hamirpur the opportunity of being employed are too low.

My love towards Physics made me to pursue this course. This degree course of Bachelor of Technology in Engineering Physics is a theoretical learning-based course mainly. Students who want to build their career in the research field may go through this. Selection of the students in this course is totally based on their choice during counseling and their rank. There is no scholarship program for general and OBC candidates except SC / ST have some tuition fees remission scholarships.

The teaching method of the faculty in this course is an old classical method of learning, there is no up gradation in learning methods which is a sad point while faculties are supportive in academics as well as personal problems. Faculties conduct written test every month to check their learning provided. While exams were conducted 2 times a semester in this college. The first one is mid semester and the other one is end semester. Mid semester covers 30% of the syllabus of that semester and end semester covers the 70% of the syllabus of that semester. Exams are not that tough to crack you can easily crack them.

To be eligible for the placement you must score a 7+ GPA in all or the average of all semester's GPA must be more than 7. As my course is newly introduced in our college the placement opportunities are too low. This course is usually grabbed by those who want to continue their studies after graduation too. While overall, placement of the college is too good, Highly valued corporate companies also come here to make offers. My college also has a placement cell which is really helpful to make the students placement ready. The highest package this year was 52 LPA grabbed by a CSE student. And the average package of the college is 14 LPA in my knowledge.

The hostel in which I reside is Kailash boys hostel the oldest hostel in the NIT Hamirpur and the first home for the new comers. This hostel serves 4 meals a day which are hygienic as well as tasty. In our hostel a single room is issued to 4 students in E block of the hostel the largest block of rest all blocks. And 3 students in one room for the A, B, and C, D block in the hostel. There is a large ground, a jogging track and a gym in the hostel. In addition to this, a tennis court, a TV hall, a large mess, a table tennis is also represented there.

In terms of infrastructure of NIT Hamirpur I would say it is the best. All the buildings are classically designed and a piece of perfection in my opinion. No motorbikes are allowed to students within the campus still the connectivity of one to other place is too good. Libraries are designed in a way that students can't get any noise from anywhere and can study peacefully. Auditorium of the college is also very large, fully furnished and have a large stage.

In terms of Campus life, NIT Hamirpur is not less than heaven. The campus is situated on a hilltop in the district of Hamirpur surrounded by many hills and mountains. The temperature of the campus in summer is an average of 28 degrees and in winters it is an average of 12 degrees which make it a very cool place to reside. There are two fests in our college first is NIMBUS the tech fest of the NIT Hamirpur and the other one is HILLFAIR organised by the students of NIT Hamirpur.
