Short Visit of UIIT

Overall Rating
As it is a government institute it is costly but not as compared with other private colleges. Overall our college is in a very beautiful location and also it has a good reputation. If you want to study in a nature loving environment than please go for it but beware that you will need to walk too much in order to attend the classes.
 

Academics Rating
For enrolling in B.Tech CSE one can go with the entrance exam named as HPUITCET. After that there is an interview round for selection and seat allotment procedure based on entrance exam and there are reservations and quotas for HPU employee students and other like SC ST, OBC etc. according to the Himachal Pradesh State Government rules for different quotas.
 

Faculty Rating
Most of the faculty members are Ph.D holders and they try their best to provide assistance to the students, As classes are equipped with digital boards it makes it easier for faculty to teach the students with different methods. Faculty members also provide mentorship in different programs which can be cultural, tech based and many other events.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, there is a placement cell and it helps students by providing assistance and support required to meet job criteria. Our last time highest package was more than 10 LPA. But for most of the average students it is 4 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
They don't have any hostels for undergraduate students and hence students need to stay on their own which is very costly here in Shimla. One can get a single room in 5000, but locals increase the rent as per their wishes which are really a drawback.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Building is good and there is a main library which is open 24*7 but at present main library is not for undergraduate students. Infrastructure is not that bad but they can't meet the standards as per the fees charged by the government and as it is a jungle area so cutting of trees is big issue to develop more infrastructures.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is peaceful as most of the students don't face attendance issues and study on their own in order to pass the exams. There are many social clubs with mentors like Technical club, ETSA, parties like ABVP, NSU and also there are fests like Utkansh for engineering students.

  • About HPU From My Point Of View

    The study experience here is really different. Most of the time when you are in Shimla one don't need fans on ceiling and there is vast range of forests which makes you addicted to nature. Institute is pretty old and it's said that Mahatma Gandhi stayed there in Shimla which also make it a historical building but it's not that maintained by government due to insufficient funds....   • My take on HPU academics and diversity

    Getting into HPU was like a dream come true. I visited HPU while I was in bed for seminars and fests and this college is humungous with its faculty in the north. You get to study from the best from their days and excelling students. It took me second counseling to get my seat in the college. I had an exam for which I prepared for months and only so I was able to clear it. The college recruitments was smooth I had no trouble and got my result at home.... Read Full Review

    Himachal Pradesh University is well known as HPU to every student. It is one of the famous universities in North India and I have been a part of this university. It is a huge campus and mostly every course is available there, and they prepare you for the IAS.
