HPU Shimla: Excellent Education at Affordable Price

Overall Rating
HPU Shimla has excellent infrastructure as it offers various academic and noon-academic facilities to the students. I joined this university because it was nearby my home and it is safe for girls. In addition to this, my former teachers also recommended this university to me. This university is a good choice for pursuing BBA because it has highly qualified facilities and it also offers practical learning experience to students. The campus life is brilliant as students can participate in many activities. Students can get exceptional education at a reasonable price here.
 

Academics Rating
I choose the BBA program which is a self-financed course. Students can get admission here on the basis of 12th exam marks. During my admission, there were total 40 seats in the program. Exams are conducted after every semester. Apart from this the teachers also conduct mid-term exams and tests to help students to prepare for the main semester exams.
My course fee is Rs. 6,000 per semester. I also have to pay Rs. 1,000 tuition fee and Rs. 320 as support fund each semester. Some backward students can get financial aid if they speak to our principal.
 

Faculty Rating
Our teachers are qualified and they have excellent teaching skills. The administration is also good as they keep students well-informed. However, sometime important decisions are delayed at the university which should be improved. The faculty uses blackboard and digital screen as their mode of teaching. Teachers also help some poor students by providing them with books and other necessary learning material. They are very supportive.
 

Placement Rating
The students of self-financed course have to participate in internship program which helps them enhance their working experience and connect with employers. Internships are useful for getting desired job. Industrial tours also take place at the university so that students can explore and learn more about the corporate world. After completion of course, the university also provides them placements at reputed companies.
 

Hostel Rating
No, Himachal Pradesh University does not offer residential facilities to the students.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The university has 3 large buildings which include different blocks for every stream such as Arts, Medical, Management, etc. There are several classrooms and common rooms for girls and boys. Every room is fully furnished with fans, desks, blackboard, and a big digital screen. The teachers have 4 staff rooms. The university has all the required academic and non-academic facilities. There is a seminar hall, library, departmental labs, and an auditorium at the university. Outsiders are not allowed in the university as it has strict security. The canteen is also good because it offers variety of food items.
 

Campus Rating
My life at the university has been very good. I have enjoyed my time at the campus. The student population at the university is huge and it includes individual from different states. Students can participate in various clubs like Eco Club. NSUI is present at the university and has fought for students’ right. I was member of this union. Many events are celebrated at the university such as Teachers Day, Children Day, Water Day, Environment Day, etc. The annual function is also organised which is very enjoyable. The teacher support cultural activities and helps students to prepare for various events.

  • About HPU From My Point Of View

    The study experience here is really different. Most of the time when you are in Shimla one don't need fans on ceiling and there is vast range of forests which makes you addicted to nature. Institute is pretty old and it's said that Mahatma Gandhi stayed there in Shimla which also make it a historical building but it's not that maintained by government due to insufficient funds....     As it is a government institute it is costly but not as compared with other private colleges. Overall our college is in a very beautiful location and also it has a good reputation. If you want to study in a nature loving environment than please go for it but beware that you will need to walk too much in order to attend the classes.... Read Full Review

  • My take on HPU academics and diversity

    Getting into HPU was like a dream come true. I visited HPU while I was in bed for seminars and fests and this college is humungous with its faculty in the north. You get to study from the best from their days and excelling students. It took me second counseling to get my seat in the college.     Himachal Pradesh University is well known as HPU to every student. It is one of the famous universities in North India and I have been a part of this university. It is a huge campus and mostly every course is available there, and they prepare you for the IAS.
