Overall Rating
Goa Medical College is the oldest colleges in Asia also one of the first. The newly opened super specialty block has a wide range of departments and offers a great exposure to students who want to develop their clinical skills. The patient inflow here is very high which is very important for students to see new cases.
 

Academics Rating
The entry is via NEET examination. The cutoff for my batch was around 590. This is through the all India quota but the state quota general cutoff was at 499. India has a huge shortage of doctor as per our population and being able to help patients is what motivates everyone who enrolls in this program.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is highly qualified. With some of them having more than 20 years of teaching experience. The faculty uses smart classroom equipped with projectors and present PPT, show videos regarding surgeries and perform some of the test that are required. There are separate clinical classes taken in pre clinical subjects like Physiology. We are also taught in the classes that how to talk with patients, how to take history and how to make reports.
 

Placement Rating
All the students that pass out from a particular batch have to do internship for one and half year at various departments and primary health centers and urban health centers where they are posted at the stipend of around 20000 to 30000 rupees. After completing the degree students may start their own practice or may acquire a job in the government sector which is unlikely to get because of the competition.
 

Hostel Rating
There is a residential facility available. Boy’s hostel and girl’s hostel are separate. The hostel has several kinds of rooms like single occupancy and sharing. The hostel has fresh drinking water facility. Mess food is also available here. The hostel has a TT table and small volleyball ground.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The classrooms are smart classrooms and projectors are placed inside. The classrooms are equipped with AC. The classroom has a sitting capacity of more than 360 people. There are 3 lecture halls. There is a big library with UG and PG reading areas. It is equipped with all the reference books that are required for the degree. There is a separate reading room that is open 24/7 which has drinking water, washroom and AC facilities.
 

Campus Rating
There are a number of clubs that are organise different fests throughout the year. These clubs are dance club, fashion club, comedy club, music club, and more. The annual cultural fest of Goa Medical College is PLEXUS which happens in Shyama Prasad stadium. There are not many places around the college campus but it is near to the capital of Goa which includes many restaurants, clubs and other tourist locations to visit.

    So basically this college has many different courses like MBBS, BPT, BOT, etc. I went for BPT that is Bachelor of Physiotherapy which is a 4 year course and then there is 6 months internship. Professors are very much knowledgeable and they teach really nice. And of course we have an attached hospital so we get to see lots of patients every day.     My experience has been an amazing one at Goa Medical College. I chose this college as it has a good record and exemplary faculty. Moreover, it is closer to my family. Others should choose Goa Medical College because it not only has excellent infrastructure and facilities but also has an exemplary faculty who teach with all their experience and expertise.
