Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies BJMC Review By Vanshika Sharma

Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies is one of the top 10 colleges of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) for a Bachelor's in Journalism and Mass Communication. I opted for GGSIPU and not for DU due to the practical learning and holistic approach to education. The IPU course is designed in such a way that it is 50% practical-based learning. What I loved the most about Tecnia is that it had a separate multimedia lab, where we had different resources for photography, filming, news reading, production, editing, and even a radio studio. I think no journalism course can be that impactful without a multimedia lab. I got to learn things practically with real equipment and real experiences. It gave us a wide variety of opportunities. I had an interest in news reading and anchoring, and I got to shoot my own news podcast in the lab and had many events where I got the chance to try live anchoring, which I don't think any other college can provide. It was a great experience, and I would surely suggest people to go for this college if they're looking for a holistic approach to education.

Talking about academics, if you think you're someone creative, you have skills and want to explore media opportunities, marketing, advertising and want to build a personality, BA (JMC) is for you. You can enroll for it through GGSIPU admissions. There's a common entrance test for it, and if you come under the required rank list, you will get admission in the college.

Faculty at Tecnia is really experienced. They don't believe in theoretical knowledge and rot learning but they believe in 50-50 division of both, practical and theoretical knowledge. The faculty has come from different media fields and shares their real life experiences which are rare. Not only this, they have a good connect with the media industry which helps the students to attend different events and be a part of them. I've attended media events with channels like ABP news, India today, etc.

There's a placement cell which is good, but you can't be dependent on it as the jobs require skills and internship experiences. They can provide you with the leads but you should have good skill sets to excel in them. Also, you can get a better opportunity if you try to find one yourself.

Infrastructure is good, you get media lab, computer labs, well maintained libraries, working lifts, and AC facility in every classroom. The campus is comparatively smaller than the others but the amenities they provide aren't available everywhere. The radio studio is also one of them. You get to experience real radio production.

The crowd and campus life is really amazing. You'll get to experience so many events and celebrity meetups. Every year the Tecnia's largest media fest "Varchasva" happens where you can participate in management, performances, hosting, and anything that you like. There are meet and greets in every 2 months. I've met Sonam Bajwa, Rajkumar Rao, Tushar Kapoor and many more. We also get to attend News events with ABP, India Today, etc.
