The stand out of KJC was that I met some very intellectual students here. KJC is one of the best commerce colleges in Bangalore and is ranked among the top colleges in India. Students from numerous states of India come and study here. Outsiders feel home over here as there’s nothing to fear about. Spending an entire day at the college was sometimes not enough because tons and tons of activities happen at KJC. The college location is not exactly outskirts of Bangalore but still far from the main city. Even though it’s one of the best colleges, south Indian students dominate and they will speak in local or their own language most of the time. Thus, language becomes a barrier sometimes. Placements for BBA were good enough as some students bagged very nice packages. Functioning of the college need kudos as they function smartly and are very smart. The discipline though is too much and sometimes become a torture because one can’t wear I-card all the times and uniform to be properly tucked in and all. Getting scolding from the professors and management became new normal after the first year.

KJC is very strict with academics as not just the attendance but we had to well in internals and monthly tests as well. It was a shame that we still had to school kind of studies but that is how it is. Drama unfolded when the students with lesser attendance were asked to wait and some of them even denied the chance to appear for the exam. Little ruthless from KJC but that is how life is at KJC. Course and syllabus wise there’s nothing that KJC can go wrong and practicals hold a lot of importance in BBA. Weightage for theory and practical is a mismatch as per many private universities but I would still back KJC to continue the same way.

Managing with south Indian students was still possible but with professors mostly from Kerala was beyond me. First of all, the way they speak, I guarantee people from North, East, and Western part of India will have a tough time. Teaching was done mostly through slides and for practicals professors took permissions from the college to take us beyond the campus. Without naming anyone, I would stick that some of the professors were thorough gentleman and would go beyond time and help us out. After passing out, I learned Keralan accent completely and I am sure many other students too would have.

Placements are significant at KJC. Placements for BBA were nothing short of 80% and that’s huge considering that even MBA students of KJC didn’t had such a great rate of placements. Many MNC’s and start-ups visited the college placements and offered jobs to most of the students after a small interview. We were taught and trained in a way that cracking interview was easy-peasy for us. Average salary offered was around 3.5-4 lakhs per annum. Like many others I had ambition of going for further studies otherwise I did had an offer letter from one of the fastest growing start-ups in India.

KJC doesn’t have its own hostel and there are PGs around the college but not worth it. I stayed with my friends in the main city which was 12 kms from the college. The college has transportation available from students coming from different parts of the city. It was an hour of travelling one way daily but still better than staying in the vicinity of the college. The area is developing one and therefore construction was going on in full force. This led to us shifting to stay at some distance from the college. Bangalore has a vast majority of student crowd and therefore finding accommodation is not at all difficult in the city.

The college consists of three big buildings and all well-equipped. BBA classes were held in the B wing of the college and library and canteen were right next to our building. There were a couple of auditoriums and one of them was so huge that it could easily accommodate 1/3rd strength of the college. The auditorium had to be that big as events happened every week. There are three cafeterias at the campus along with an ATM shop. There’s no huge sports ground but indoor sporting facilities are great. College’s parking lot was big enough to park 500 two wheelers and 100 four wheelers.

If one is interested to be a part of college societies than KJC can do the world of good for them. If one had to find new interest in life than these societies are more than capable of doing that. The college’s sports week and annual fest was a thing to watch out for. Discipline was torturing and presence of too many south Indian students in a city like Bangalore were two major setbacks or else I would have rated campus life 10 on 10.
