Zakir Husain College B.A Review By Ananya Iyer

Zakir Husain Delhi College is the oldest college of Delhi University which was established in the late 17th century. It is also one of the oldest educational institutions established in India. The college is a part of the south campus, with students across India providing a diverse and vibrant environment. I am currently in my third year of Bachelors and I have firsthand experience of the college. The college is not extremely vast and huge but is big enough. The college also has an evening college that is the Zakir Husain Delhi College evening. The college lies in the middle from both Delhi Gate metro station (violet line) and New Delhi metro station (yellow line), near the new Delhi railway station and is walking distance from both.

I am studying Psychology and Human Resource Management, which gives me immense opportunities to explore both fields. The current way to enroll in the college is on the basis of the CUET entrance exam and secure marks in it. However, one can also apply in various other ways like reservations for SC, ST, OBC and others and Extracurricular activities and sport quota.

The Psychology faculty is exceptionally talented, knowledgeable and experienced teachers, who are extremely understanding and helpful. Many of them have completed their Ph.D and go out of their ways to help the students to complete their dissertation and help them. The faculties of other subjects are also extremely good, and are also well known in their fields.

The college also has a placement cell that helps the students to enhance their network and provide access to work with various prestigious organizations. It not only provides packages and jobs, but also internship opportunities for students in other years of college.

The college does not have hostel facilities. However there are PG and flats available near the college.

The college as mentioned is one of the oldest colleges of Delhi University, which is visible in the infrastructure. However the facilities in various blocks are decent with seminar halls, huge auditorium and screens available for presentations. Also, the new building construction of the college is almost over, and set to open hopefully soon, which is extremely beautiful, vast and majestic.

The campus has various societies like, Indian dance, music, western dance, music, theatre and arts society, along with a mental health society up until recently. The societies of the college have gained recognition and position as one of the best societies across various colleges. It is a must try experience for children, who are open to gaining exposure and do not want to be bound within the academics only.
