Zakir Husain College, New Delhi – India's Second Oldest College

This is my college 'Zakir Hussain Delhi College', second oldest college of India. Previously it was known as Delhi College. First of all why I got enrolled in it is because it has a good network of transportation artery around it. You can find bus stand within 200 meters of area and metro as well as railway station within 800 meters of area. Basically it is easy to access. Transportation provided a good in this college. It is Good, totally away from the clinches of ragging, healthier and finer environment with greenery and intellectual’s species roaming around the physical space. There are few flaws but it's not that much prominent to be counted. There are a lot of societies in which you can join with a lot of events occurring. All over the year it ultimately leads to evolution of a person in different dynamic terms.

Basically as it's a college under the supervision of Delhi University. As a central University you have to o go through CUET (Common entrance examination test) and as per your particular course you can find specific eligibility from the site of DU. I enrolled in BA Program, basically the reason for a program course is basically because of the number of discipline you have to study as it offers two one in the form of major and other in the form of minor. There are some requirements by which you can get admission in DU. It will make you eligible to go through 2 DSC (Discipline specific core), so that I can be acquainted with two dimensions of subjects that's all.

As per program course I am engaged with two departments, history and philosophy department respectively. There are two professors in history department who teach me and one in philosophy department. They are well experienced and a hard-core lover of their particular subjects. Their background is associated with many particular authors of their departments. They basically teach in a calm and moderate manner. Their lectures show a broader hallmark in empirical manner. So overall the faculty is very good.

My campus is small in size and is not much extended but has enough space that is required for any kinds of particular activity. There are two main buildings, one is older one and the other one is new. The older building is segregated into arts block and science block. Science block is a little bit more advanced because of the requirements it needs. It provides specifics advancements as per the need of student. On the other hand arts block is also very good.

Campus Life is good. You can find a huge shadow of politics in the time of DUSU elections but it lasts only for a month. Besides this there are a lot of other activities always happening around the campus. Many religious and other festivals find their place in a secular manner. You can find visiting of different public administrators and intellectual scholars at different point of time. There is not any kind of boredom that you will feel in the college campus.
