My Overall Experience at GGDSD College was Outstanding

Overall Rating
Although there is no ideal college, GGDSD College surely lives up to the high ideals which it strives to work its way toward. Being an alumna of the English Hons. course, I really believe my time here was a highly rewarding experience. Lively campus life, committed faculty, and a vibrant student community are the ingredients that provide an atmosphere intellectually stimulating yet immensely supportive. The college nurtures personal growth, too. Whether academics or campus activities, GGDSD College aims at making college life worth experiencing.
 

Academics Rating
GGDSD College has a really great academic atmosphere, being intellectually stimulating as well. The admission is completely merit-based, and most of the students get in based on their 12th-grade percentages. It ensures that the caliber of students is always great. Particularly, the course structure for English Hons. is strong and comprehensive, with a really challenging syllabus. The transition to Hons. classes in the second year is fairly smooth since the base formed with the foundational courses is very strong.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculties in the English department are really exemplary. The professors are highly qualified, some cleared NET, and others had Ph.D degrees with a vast experience which makes them enthusiastic in teaching. The methods of teaching that they use are quite engaging and really effective in creating an interactive environment in class. Teachers are very cooperative and extend invaluable support and guidance to make the academic environment euphoric.
 

Placement Rating
While placement support is provided by GGDSD College through its Placement Cell, finding immediate jobs for the students is difficult. In general, it is pretty tough, especially for humanities students. The exact placement percentage goes up to approximately 20-30% or so. This percentage signifies the tough competition within the job market. However, in general, B.Com and BBA students tend to receive good placements. The college has the PMLSD Business School on its campus and the statistics are good.
 

Hostel Rating
The hostels in GGDSD College are comfortable and functional. Both boy’s and girl’s hostels are available with generally good living but a little compact. The food is average, and the fee structure is also reasonable. Additions to new AC rooms are definitely improving conditions of staying in, though strict rules might be a little hindrance at times.
 

Infrastructure Rating
GGDSD College has a good infrastructure. It gets jam-packed at the time of MSTs and college fests. Roshan Lal Verma Block, Pt. Mohan Lal Block, and Universal Fraser Valley are three main blocks on the campus. In addition to the main auditorium there is a mini auditorium as well where seminars are conducted and an open sitting area. For sports and NCC activities, there is a ground. Other facilities would include departmental HODs in separate cabins, Nescafe, canteen, stationery shop, medical room and a special automation cell for problems regarding students add to the promise of the campus.
 

Campus Rating
The Campus life in itself is a vibe. The campus is pretty happening and exciting. It is further enriched with the English Literary Club and SD Aadarsh Foundation(NGO). Events, fests, and activities from these clubs and other clubs like the Rotaract Club and Enactus Club go on taking place every now and then, making the atmosphere dynamic and vibrant. The students have ample opportunities to socialize, participate in enriching extracurricular activities, and involve in meaningful community service.

    I had heard that this is one of the best colleges in Chandigarh with the best crowd and faculty. I will say that the crowd and the campus life in itself is a vibe. The clubs, societies, and the festivals are amazing. I chose psychology and I definitely am satisfied with the faculty of my department, most of them are very helpful and so I honestly do not regret choosing this college.     SD College is a dream destination for the people living anywhere in the world. You will find majority of people from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, Jammu, U.P, Mohali, Chandigarh, etc. The student ratio includes more number of girls than boys. The crowd is very friendly and amiable. Everybody seems nice and kind. The college is affiliated to Punjab University, and the curriculum works according to the university norms and procedures.
