Quantum University B.Tech Review By Pranshul Rana

I joined Quantum University, Roorkee after going through so many reviews and advertisements. After reading them, and now that I have experienced the most of the Quantum University Roorkee, here is my honest review from my own experience. I completed my class 12th from Bareilly, UP and then I decided to come here to Roorkee. The admission criteria of the college are yet not so difficult to clear. The college asks only 70% of your intermediate results to take direct admissions. However, if you're unable to clear such criteria, you can still get admission by giving an entrance cum scholarship program. From my experience, I guarantee that anyone who wants to get admission can easily get admission despite these parameters. The college ranking among other colleges at Uttarakhand is very good in terms of overall standout colleges. However, I was a student of UP, therefore I could not enjoy the perks that a student with a home quota enjoys.

I was the one from the B.Tech mechanical engineering branch. Everyone was guiding me around to join the computer science branch, but I had a great interest in automobiles and wanted to be an automobile designer, therefore I took the mechanical engineering branch. The eligibility criteria are the same for every branch, unlike in government colleges. Mechanical engineering department laboratories are fully equipped and that too with the latest machines which give us an edge.

Faculty, staff, and management members are all very cooperative here. During the initial days, I had some troubles regarding course registration, where I had chosen the wrong courses and my name was not on the semester list. My problem was taken seriously by the registrar department of the university and it was solved with immediate effect. Also, the professors here take such issues seriously. However, during class professors do not teach very well, but provide good notes which help us in self-study and especially to study before one night of exam. Professors themselves set the mid-term and end-term examination papers. Most of the queries they ask were taught to us in the class notes and lectures. In our four years of Mechanical engineering, there is not a single course from another college, which helps us indirectly in maintaining our score.

Due to the reason that this college offers interdisciplinary courses, many companies visit our college for recruitment. Companies that came here for recruitment are JD, MindLabs Media Tech Pvt. Ltd, and NISM. Also here in this college, you can easily land good internships. Here internships are of better quality than placements. Even though for B.Tech students there are 100% placements, the CTC of the placements is sometimes very low. The lowest placement last year was 2 LPA and the highest placement offered was 24 LPA. During the placement season, we have seen our seniors working very hard. When it was our time we also had such an experience of excitement, rush, and competitiveness in us to be placed in any good company.

Hostel quality is good here. Although the food quality is moderate, the hostel wins in other parameters. Let me tell you about food here, the mess is situated on the ground floor of every hostel which can easily accommodate around 50-70 students at a time. The food is sometimes very tasty and other times not even bear to take a single bite. It is mainly because of the timetable here. The non-veg food is tasty mostly and is served 2 times a week. Rooms are spacious and well maintained. Each student gets an almirah, table, chair, and a bed. The hostel corridors, toilets, and bathrooms are cleaned every day.

Quantum University was recently built, unlike other engineering colleges which were built way ago during the '60s and '70s. This is also the reason Quantum University shares a modern look in its construction. Also, the classrooms are smart labs equipped with modern benches and well-furnished floors. Not only the classrooms but also the playground, buses, library, and everything share a well-designed infrastructure. The campus is spread across around 30 acres where most of the space is utilized in building laboratories and auditoriums. In the college, there is a canteen also, where we spent most of our time there hanging out with our friends. Although the food is not very tasty right from the start, it gives us a good place to hang out and sit however long we want to.

The campus life of the hostel is very fun and you are going to enjoy it very much. Numerous events bring the passion and excitement of meeting new people in those events. As the condition is now, the university will probably not host any event for much time now. However, if the condition gets better the campus life will be worth this awaiting moment of reopening of the college. There will be so many memories you are going to make in the canteen, hanging out in parks, trips to Mussoorie and much more.
