My Views after 1-Year in DTU New Delhi

Overall Rating
I just finished my first year at DTU New Delhi and my experience in the past one year was pretty good and had a lot of new experiences .The main factors that influenced me to take this particular institute was the placements. The attendance criteria is pretty relaxed. The main differentiator of this university is that it is very student friendly and the university does not burden the students.
 

Academics Rating
The course I chose was B.Tech in Electrical Engineering. The reason I chose this branch is that this was my best option according to my rank, which was around ~32,000 in JEE Main. The eligibility criteria is of course JEE Main marks 60% in 12th aggregate in PCM. The admission process is conducted through JAC counseling. The exams are conducted only twice in a semester that is mid semester and end semester along with practical viva. In some particular subjects, the viva is conducted externally.
The year wise fee for first year is Rs. 2,36,000 and it keeps increasing year on year and goes until Rs. 26,0,000. There is fee concession for economically weaker sections and for SC/ST candidates.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculties are very good in most departments. Some faculties are very educated and have multiple research papers. They use projector and PPTs for teaching. The teacher student ratio is also very good. Every class has different teachers for the same subject. The teachers are always willing to help.
 

Placement Rating
The placement cell is very active. It conducts many seminars and workshops for internship. There are multiple groups and channels where internship opportunities are posted. Almost all major companies that visit IIT Delhi also visits DTU. Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, google Atlassian, Amazon, PAYTM, and OLA have visited in the latest placement drive. The average package depends on the branch for CSE, it may be around 22 LPA to 23 LPA whereas in Electrical Engineering, it is around 14 LPA to 15 LPA and 10 LPA to 12 LPA for Mechanical students.
 

Hostel Rating
DTU New Delhi has hostels for all year’s students. Personally, I was allotted type-II hostel and the condition of hostel rooms are average. The girls and boys’ hostel are separate. Mess food is also pretty mediocre. Hostel fee is Rs. 52,000 for a year whereas mess fee is Rs. 34,800 for 10 months. The hostel curfew timing is 10 PM for boys. The overall experience is average.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure is one of the best among many universities in the country. The academic blocks are top notch and well maintained. There is a separate building for almost every branch. The campus is 164 acres and surrounded by lush greenery. The new classrooms are very Hi-tech and air conditioned whereas old ones are being renovated. The library is open for 24/7during exams and is well maintained. The sports facilities are also top notch and well maintained, as almost every sport is available.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life is one of the best aspects of this university. The university crowd is mostly studious and hard working. There are numerous clubs in university like cultural clubs, technical clubs, etc. The fest is one of the biggest fest in North India named ‘Engifest’. There are also other fests such as fresher’s party and literary fest named Yuvaan and Navratri fest as well. The experience is surely great.

    DTU New Delhi has its branch as earlier the University was known for Engineering and not it offers various other courses as well. The students pursuing UG program get a lot of new insights.     Choosing University was not my first choice. I always wanted to study in Delhi University but entering the gates of this University changed my life so much. Life at this University is full of academic challenges but it also has great people. Every University has its pros and cons but it only makes you a better person for future.     I started studying at Delhi Technological University in the session 2024 and so far the experience has been good. The people have been great and administrative faculty has been helpful too. We can also ask our seniors for notes and they at times also help me with my doubts, they are very cooperative.     Overall, this University is a great choice for students if they want to pursue courses like BBA, Economics honors or even Masters in economics. The curriculum is well rounded, making sure the students have all the required knowledge. The course also includes hands on experience and exposure including internships, extracurricular and interpersonal development.
