After a horrendous time during my UG where nothing went my way, DBS changed all the dynamics for me. There are many B-Schools, or management colleges that ranks in top 10, top 50 and DBS is rather beyond that. For students like us who can’t do well at the entrance but still aspire to study management studies there are a very few good college options. DBS probably the best among them as they are happy even if the student has appeared for the entrance. I can’t even mention the percentile that I got in major entrances. DBS is open for many as seats are enough and students looking at DBS are rather few. I didn’t get the specialization I wanted but never mind as my whole and sole aim was to see myself working at a brand company. DBS has made many great placements over the years and soon it will start ranking for sure.

Where in most of the college is still following memorization technique, DBS believes in project-based learning. Taking students to incubation centres and making them believe in start-ups was the best part of studies. The college is a little strict with attendance as any B-School would be. The two years course is vast but one doesn’t have to read the books for everything. One can apply their brains and open to ask or suggest anything. The management of the college used to back student’s instinct. All in all, DBS not just make student learn but nurture them so that they can contribute in the future.

Faculty were special to me as one was open for suggestions with them. I told them where I come from and how things fared at my graduate college. However, the case was same with many because Indian education system is robust in premier institutes while it is in sad condition in many. Coming to the faculty, they have always been the backbone of students at DBS. Many games were designed through which the faculty used to check our knowledge and skill set. If there was even the slightest room open for improvement the faculty would give genuine help to the students.

If you were to take my words then I would say the placements were great. Many started comparing ROI and other colleges' students' package but one has to look at the geographical location too. Uttarakhand doesn’t have many known industries and almost all the companies that visited campus offered jobs in Delhi-NCR region. Banks, securities companies and FMCG names were among the ones who offered jobs in the range of 700k CTC.

Hostels were superb as I stayed at the hostel and trust me; they were of state-of-the-art quality. Rooms were big enough to accommodate friends and have our cheat meals. Rooms had attached washrooms and were cleaned daily. The hostel warden would hardly tee off as he was busy in his own world. The hostel was common for UG and PG students and it was nice to stay among juniors. Ragging wasn’t allowed or done by any means but if needed any help the juniors would do it as a sign of respect. The dining area was amazing but one has to be on time because no food in mess after the specific timing. Breakfast 6.30 to 8, Lunch 1-2, and dinner 7.30 to 9.

The classrooms were great as students can enjoy their own space. After the classrooms, it was the library where most time was spent. All case study books and print out facilities was available at the library. The college has an open amphitheatre and some classes and seminars were held there. During summers or for college events, the college’s auditorium was moulded like the Old Vic theatre of London. The college buildings are amazing as all the buildings are centrally air-conditioned. Dehradun being chilly during winters, the classrooms also have heaters so that students who are not used to such climatic conditions don't have any problem. The students are also covered with cashless insurance and can have their treatment free of cost at some major hospitals in Dehradun. The cafeteria was small but artistic in all sense as one can see a lot of designs, painting and posters being pasted time and again at the cafeteria.

Life at DBS was amazing as students from many states and cultural backgrounds join this college. There’s no junior senior at the campus as everyone is made to learn how to be compassionate towards others. The college annual fest, MANFEST is celebrated in March every year. Juniors and seniors are seen performing together at the fest and many prominent names from the world of politics, entertainment and sports have been invited to flag off the event.
