MBM University B.Tech Review By Ugam Kumavat

I was highly jealous of all my friends and cousins who went out for studies as I joined one of the worst colleges in M.B.M. Engineering college. Trust me, and even my soul is crying while writing this review, but I have no choice. I would apologize to the students who will feel offended by reading my review. However, back of their mind, everyone will know that my answer is hundred percent right. The condition of government colleges in the state is already poor, and M.B.M. was no different. The lack of facilities was quite visible, and because of that, even AICTE banned the college in 2018. Due to influence from the government, the ban was lifted just in two months, but the conditions haven't changed a bit. Hats off to those who complete their degree in four years because 8 out of 10 took five or more years. One self-explanatory point is that the college plays dirty politics. The college seriously needs some elephant legs to have more space to dance.

Just to get the revaluation fees, students are given back in masses. Having back in three or four subjects is quite common. Even the exam results are declared four months after the next semester starts. Thus, if you include vacation and semester period, one has to stay depressed for at least five months. Attendance was never compulsory as one was free to come whenever they like. You attend the lectures or not, and it doesn't matter as it would be of no help in any sense. It was a punt played by students that M.B.M. might help us become great engineers, but in reality, it was fake engineering that we did from here.

I was at the college for five years, from 2012 to 2017. Many teachers came while many left. Some are like permanent and believe in doing nothing. It will surely be less than 20% if their attendance is taken. Thus, permanent faculty have no time for teaching students as they will hardly show their faces during the semester. The teaching quality was of the worst quality as the teachers barely had anything new to share, and giving students assignments from books was the only way they knew.

I wish I was good at cracking jokes because who will hire fake engineers. The placements were absolutely non-existent. We were told many big names that they have filed an application and they will be here. Students were smart enough to know that nothing of this sort is happening because even if the industry had come, we would have failed to impress them. Most of the students didn't have credible numbers, while the ones who had numbers would have failed to answer their questions. Technology students can do so much in their lives but I guarantee that none of the engineer from M. B. M. would have done anything productive related to engineering.

Even though the campus is big, the boy's hostel is around 2kms from the college campus. There are two girl's hostels situated at different locations. One was quite close to the college while one was a little far off. The hostel's fees were nominal, but the demand was high, and the hostels were less. Jodhpur, though have many to let houses, P.G. in easy terms. Jodhpur, on the whole, isn't as expensive as Mumbai, Delhi or Bangalore. So, even if you fail to get seat in hostel, there are plenty of options in the city. You will find many options close to the college as well.

The college campus area was 100 acres but apart from area there was nothing for which the college can blow their trumpets. Starting with auditorium it was a normal room where chairs were placed during events or lectures. Even the sound system there was not permanent. Lecture halls are called lecture theatre where birds and dogs are watched more often than the faculty. There are no wash rooms on every floor and that's a major setback. Labs haven't been upgraded apart from the computer labs where A.C.'s have been installed, and around 50 latest P.C.'s have been placed. There is no first aid facility at the campus and most of the campus is barren land. The canteen doesn't provide cooked food as a packaged snack, and cold drinks are the only options at the canteen. Sports wise there are two grounds, one basketball and cemented badminton court.

From all the readers of my review, I need a salute for M.B.M. If I have to mention our college fests in this column, I am really sorry. The college fest started at 10 am in the morning and ended at 3 pm. No night D.J.s or activities that happened after evening. Luckily some cultural clubs are highly active, and among them, singing, dancing, and photography clubs are the most active ones. Being part of the clubs might help you cross the college boundaries and showcase your skills in the above-mentioned activities.
