SPPU Pune is Called ‘Oxford of East’

The experience at the Pune University (SPPU) provides typical 90s college experience as in the buildings, the nature and the surroundings are just so beautiful, with facilities like cafes, hotels and much more. My mom had graduated from here so she was sure that my learning experience will be good and also the university is known as ‘Oxford of East’, so there wasn't any doubt regarding the university.

I have chosen B.Sc Data Science, as I want to do MBA, so just for a graduate degree and my interest in computers and coding, I chose this course. You need to score 75+ in the entrance exam of the university and need to have a decent score in the boards too as on the basis of that, your admission is processed. Admission process is to give the entrance exam, get on the merit list, submit documents, pay fees and then your admission will be confirmed. Every 3 months there is an exam, first the mid sem and 2-3 months later the end-sem. There are practicals every day, in that the college provides real life coder or programmer experience, and makes up for the future challenges.

The fee of my course is 1.55 Lakh per year. You can pay in two different semesters like Rs. 75,000 in the odd and Rs. 80,000 in the even semester.

The faculty consists of both young and experienced professors. Some of them are very helpful and encouraging but some are a bit on the negative side. Most of the faculty members have completed their B.Sc or B.Tech. The teaching method is both By PPTs and white boards. Debate activities are conducted for communication skills. Each section has 80-85 students and there are 3 divisions. Each subject has different teachers. The faculty members are very supportive, they give answers to the texts messages and also help in doubts clearing, also take extra sessions for those whose concepts aren’t clear.

There is a Training and Placement Cell at SPPU Pune, dedicated for interviews and practical knowledge of the student. Many renowned companies like TCS, Wipro, Capgemini, etc. visit the campus for placements.

The Campus is extremely huge, it is spread across acres and there is a bit of jungle view in the middle of the campus. Each department has its own building and the surrounding brings a lot of freshness and refreshment. The classrooms are also huge and there are all types of facilities like library, computer labs, halls and auditorium. SPPU Pune students are provided with free gym facilities too. The college campus is just so good that you forget about the academic stress. Facilities such as cold drinking water, inverters, many cafes, etc. makes it stand out from the other colleges.

This is one of the best campuses I have ever seen. The crowd is mixed, there are both type of students: studious and backbenchers. There is a club called ABVP, which is the biggest student organization here, and it is mandatory for everyone to take part in the club. Events such as Traditional Days, Bollywood Days are organised by the university, My experience was good with the campus, helpful classmates and faculty were there too.
