Great for Placement: Govt. Model Engineering College

Overall Rating
I chose MEC because of the placement, strong alumni and because it's in the heart of Kochi. The transportation to the college is super easy. Nearest metro station is Cusat metro station and Ernakulum south railway station is nearest railway station. Our college has various numbers of clubs. We have active ASME, IEEE, NSS and many such national level clubs. All of the clubs are very active. There are events happening every other day.
 

Academics Rating
Eligibility in any branch in B.Tech is via KEAM rank. Eligible KEAM rank varies every year for various branches. The college offers B.Tech in Computer Science, CS And Business, Electronics And Communication, Electronics And Biomedical, Electronics & Electrical, Electronics, VLSI, and Mechanical Engineering. All the branches have their specific lab facility with well equipped machines. Most of the HODs have doctorate in their specific field
 

Faculty Rating
Faculties are highly qualified. Most of them have completed their PhD in their respective field. They are very friendly and supportive. Students can approach faculty for their projects, research papers, etc. Faculty uses their own notes and PPTs to teach students. We also have qualified lab assistants in respective branches.
 

Placement Rating
Our college has one of the amazing placement cells in Kerala. Students in placement cells are working day and night to bring companies to our college for the placement. This year the highest placement offered was 52 LPA and the average placement is 8 LPA. Almost 85% of the students got placed. The placement cell along with the training cell trains the students for their final year placement drive.
 

Hostel Rating
There is both girl’s and boy’s hostel in our college. Girls' hostel is almost 800 meter away from the college. It has a security along with two resident tutors living there. There is no dress code inside the hostel. However, we have curfew from 9:30 PM for senior girls and 7 PM for junior girls. The hostel fee is 7k per month.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Despite having all these branches and highly qualified faculties, our college lacks little bit in having great infrastructure. The management needs to work over improving the quality of infrastructure in future. Nonetheless, college has a ground for cricket and other activities along with one badminton court and an amphitheater. There is also parking lot for both students as well as faculty.
 

Campus Rating
Our college organizes one of the biggest tech fests in South India called ‘Excel’ conducted every year, where students from different colleges can also take part in various competitions, Hackathon, etc. As I said earlier, our college has various clubs offering various activities and events every other day. Being an active participant of a club has various benefits like improvement in communication skills, public speaking skills, etc.

    From the very beginning, I started liking this college. The campus life is not that bad like the outsiders say. The faculties, staff and students all of them are good. The classes they are providing are nice. All the tests are conducted on time. I chose this college mainly because of the placements they are offering.     Overall, it's a good experience. The course curriculum is highly relevant to current standards and comprehensive in covering key skills and concepts. Equal priority is given to both theoretical and practical knowledge. The way they manage students and conduct exams is impressive.
