Excellent educational facilities at Basanti Devi College, Kolkata

Overall Rating
The reason for choosing Basanti Devi College for me was the faculty of this college. I was from 2016-18 batch and had experienced of being taught by some of the best professors who had passed from Jadavpur University. Secondly, I will recommend this college for its disciplinary ambience and strict attendance policy. Moreover, there were also extracurricular activities and cultural events organised for the students that has always been a plus point.
 

Academics Rating
To be eligible, candidates are required to have a minimum of 50% marks in any undergraduate course he/ she pursued. Secondly, the college will conduct an entrance exam for enrolling students in the Master's Degree Program. The candidate needs to get cut off marks that is set by the college and pay the requisite amount for candidates to pursue their opted course.
 

Faculty Rating
There are 5-6 faculty members and professors including the Head of the Department. The HOD whom I met was a Jadavpur University alumnus and was also pursuing Ph.D from the same university. Another professor was a guest lecturer and was pursuing Ph.D from a foreign university. Professors were really helpful, especially with writing thesis papers and other assignments.
 

Placement Rating
I have not heard about any placement cell at my college, at least, in my department (English). Therefore, I am not sure about the placement.
 

Infrastructure Rating
As I was from the Literature department, I had to spend a lot of time in the library. Talking about library, it has all the necessary books that are required during the course. In fact, students can find 3-4 or more reference books which can be a great support for doing the assignments. Additionally, there are CCTVs in every corner of the campus. Students are also benefited with high-speed internet facility.
 

Campus Rating
Since Basanti Devi College is a women college, the overall campus is quite disciplined and cultural. We used to have annual functions in the end of every year and Saraswati Puja in the college. There were also excursions / department-wise picnic which were conducted by the professors and with the permission of the Principal. Other than these, there are farewell and fresher parties that are conducted by the juniors and seniors of the college.
