An Insight into NMIMS, Navi Mumbai

Overall Rating
When I first applied to this institute, it was only as a backup. I’m from Delhi and I did not want to come all the way to Mumbai for the institute. Upon further research and combing through every institute admission website, I found stellar reviews and experiences of students. I am pursuing B.Sc. Economics, and NMIMS is one of the few institutes in India with a really good programme for it. I chose this institute after talking to many teachers, all of whom assured me that this is the right decision.
 

Academics Rating
B.Sc. Economics is tough, but it’s highly rewarding. I’m gaining knowledge about the things I never knew existed, studying multiple subjects and thoroughly enjoying all of them. I have loved Economics since high school and this course has really helped my passion for it. There are so many interests to choose from. I think that the best part is that it is highly practical. We apply our knowledge from every subject, and it is also a good way of gaining marks.
 

Faculty Rating
Our batch has mixed experiences with the faculty over the duration of our course. Most of the faculty changes every semester as the subjects change, but some stay permanent. They all either already have their Ph.D or they are pursuing one. They have years of experience. However, a couple of the teachers need to improve their teaching style but, at the end of the day, they are always available for any help you may need.
 

Placement Rating
My experience with the placement was average. It is better to get off-campus placements as the companies associated with the institute are not up to the mark.
 

Hostel Rating
The institute has its own buildings for a girls' and boys' hostel, separately, which are very close to the institute itself at a walking distance. They are more affordable than the other PGs available. But based on the reviews I have heard; the food is average, and the elevators don’t work sometimes.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus is not huge and only has 3 floors, but it is spread wide and there is a new wing in construction for MBA. The classrooms are large and equipped with smart boards. The auditorium is kind of small for an institute. The cafeteria does not have an extensive menu and tastes average. The library is very well-furnished with books and plenty of space for private studying. In fact, many students choose to study only in the library for their exams.
 

Campus Rating
For a small campus, NMIMS has a very lively atmosphere. The institute community has dozens of committees and societies, which host fests on almost a weekly basis. They provide a good opportunity for socialising with people from other courses because otherwise, students are kind of disconnected. The societies also organise several parties throughout the academic year.

    My overall experience in NMIMS Navi Mumbai has been positive. The campus environment is focused on learning and the faculty members far good. I chose this Institute because of its reputation and exposure it provides through practical learning. The infrastructure is good, updated labs and regular events that help students to builder confidence. The atmosphere here pushes you to stay active and improving.     This institute provides a balanced academic environment. There is not much to talk about the infrastructure but it has great facilities. The campus is well equipped offering a variety of extracurricular activities. The industrial connections through internships and placements need to be improved.
