AISSMS College of Engineering B.Tech Review By Hande Shreya

After completing the Diploma in Computer Engineering I was concerned about which college I will attend for my undergraduate degree. This is because the choice of institution has a huge impact on academic and extracurricular development. In the first round of admission, the IT department was allotted but my preference was in the main field of Computer Engineering and during the second round I got it at AISSMS, COE. The campus at AISSMS provides an excellent environment that promotes academic and extracurricular development. Even though I joined directly as a second-year student, I still found the college environment to be welcoming, fun and very conducive to learning and personal development.

The subject I am studying is Computer Engineering. The eligibility to pursue depends on the final year grades of diploma which should be about 90% and the eligibility for students who want to take admission in 1st year, 12th marks will be considered which should be typically above 90-96% reflecting the competitive nature. It is important to present yourself as a capable and outstanding competitor in this environment. The college promotes this concept by encouraging students to participate in workshops, Hackathons, and activities designed to develop technical skills. Students need to broaden their horizons and stay ahead in this dynamic field. My motivation for enrolling in this program was to gain a solid foundation in Computer Engineering while exploring emerging technologies through practical experience.

The faculties are highly qualified and bring a wide range of skills to the curriculum. Most teachers have M.Tech and Ph.D in Computer Science, AI, Networking, etc. My personal thinking on teaching style is that everything which is viewed and taught on the projector seems less interactive but other activities like group discussions, presentations by students, case studies which are held by teachers make the session interesting and helpful to students. The faculties are assigned as mentors to a particular group for anyone who faces issues in college.

Yes, there is a Placement Cell, but it seems less active.

The hostel facility provided by the college is very good and offers a comfortable environment to the students. The mess has hygienic meals. However, the hostel is located a little far from the college which requires students to travel daily.

The college infrastructure seems really interesting. At the start, it was a little confusing for me but as time passed it was easy to grasp the areas. The classrooms and labs are equipped with projectors and black boards. Also, we have AC facilities in some of the labs. The library and reading hall are the best places to visit as students can spend time reading their books or doing other research or group discussion and the strong Wi-Fi connection is available here including in the labs as well.

College life is really good. There are clubs like Art Circle which encourage students to increase their skills in the fields like dancing, singing, acting, etc. Every department has their own club for student development and to become more social. Every year fests are organised including various interesting days (traditional, twin, bollywood). Annual function named 'Shivanjali' which is very happening for all the students and faculties. Interesting guests are invited. Overall, campus life is the best with friends and academics.
