Overall Rating
Vel tech University has ranked 86th in the NIRF. It is an institute in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. They have all the courses and degrees like B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, Ph.D, etc. The campus is great but overall, its average due to management change and rules being stricter.
 

Academics Rating
Academically, it's good and all the courses and departments have well defined course structure. They have industry standard modules (syllabus and course works) which gives you practical knowledge in the field you are going to work in. There are interactive lab sessions and project works that would make you better in your core subjects. Assignments and tests are purely based on practical experience and knowledge which makes you prepared for placement opportunities as well.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculties are good, and it also depends on who you choose. Vel Tech mostly has experienced faculties so there's not much of a problem when it comes to them. Although they're strict at times, their teaching methods are quite effective. I’m a Computer Science student and as for me, my faculties are always kind and they even advise us on our personal problems, if we ask for guidance.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, we have a Placement Department in our college and the industry and placement training starts from 6th semester to make us prepared for your job interviews. We have company specific training and much more. Although, placement records change from batch and year to year. In our year, the placements were 8/10.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, we have a good hostel, and the facilities are also great. The food provided in the hostel is tasty, but the infrastructure is average.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus is quite beautiful; we have different blocks and departments. There are also amenities such as library, research park, incubator, startup cell, various student clubs, canteens, basketball court, football court, badminton court, dance club, music club, etc. Students have the freedom to explore the campus till 7.00 P.M in the evening. The canteen food is great apart from the mess food.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life totally depends on the kind of friends you make, although it’s great, it wouldn't be so memorable without the friends. We have great fests like LAVAZA, and a lot of audio launches and even short films are shot in our institute, in fact our chairman is a film producer. Our extracurricular activities are quite great as well.

    I am student of Electronic and Communication branch of my college. Vel Tech University is located in outer side of Chennai. My college is overall 7 out of 10. There are many pros and cons of college Here faculty are very biased with people. It depends upon your spoken language and behavior like I am person who come from north Indian state so I faced a lot problem initially but if you catch up with it you can go for this college.     Vel Tech Dr. RR & Dr. SR University, Chennai has a good infrastructure and I feel like it does not need to be improved. I wish that the academics could be developed for Mechanical and Civil Engineering.
