Ness Wadia College of Commerce B.Com Review By Bhavna Keralia

'Ness Wadia College of Commerce', some programs are good, but when it comes to B. Com, yes, they were scraping the bottom of the list. I mean, though, have a look at the Colleges they were competing with. Symbiosis College, BMCC, and others. So, on that front it was at the bottom; but if we leave out B. Com, the other courses were good. I wish I could have joined some of those, but when you want to study in Pune at any cost, this is what you get. The rankings may be lower than many Colleges of Pune, but there were many upsides. Firstly, the location of the College was the best among any top commerce Colleges of Pune. Secondly, the education here was a spicy meat ball. I mean, attendance was not required, and students could come only during internals and exams and they are through. I thought this as one of the biggest negatives, but when I saw that the same system prevails in BMCC, and Symbiosis, I was like. It's a culture in Pune and the Colleges are following the same pattern.

I showed 100 percent attendance in the first year, but what I saw was that the class strength kept decreasing as the time went on. I tried my best not to get distracted, but how could I, when Pune city, which is so lovely and had so many distracting things. One thing that all should know is that most students who come to Pune and enroll for B.-Com are engaged with CA classes. I was not one of those as I was happy exploring the city and vibes that it had. So, what I am trying to say is that B. Com from PU will not lead you anywhere, whether you do from any Colleges of Pune. So, our College did the same things in academics like every other College of Pune does.

If I brought my 100 percent to the class, the faculty brought 110 percent. So, for that they should be congratulated because the numbers kept decreasing; but still, they tried their best to make the classes engaging and help us beyond studies. One of my teachers, of whom I was the favorite, persuaded me to join CAT classes as she was clear that B. Com is not going to do any help to me in future. She was right because until the end of second year, apart from a little bit of accountancy, I don't think I could have helped anyone in anything that they wanted. So, for the efforts that they made to make students come to classes often, was the biggest takeaway.

We all wanted placements, but when we were informed that first the BBA students will be placed and then our number will come. When I checked BBA placements, they were also quite below 100% and mentally we all were prepared that we are not going to get placed from the campus. Some students even though outsiders decided to find something for themselves in Pune and were able to find a job. So, the College is a reputed one, but B. Com students will not have a single placement from campus.

I have never seen such a small hostel where the intake is around 800 students for B. Com and still the hostel of 3 floors had 10-12 rooms after taking out the warden and the guest rooms. 30 girls were accommodated in the girls' hostel of the College, so I had to find my space off-campus. Koregaon Park, which is one of the most happening areas of Pune, is close to our College and there are many buildings where flats are given only to students. Every restaurant that you go to, you will see stickers displaying that a flat mate is required. So, finding accommodation, be it boys or girls, it can never be an issue in Pune.

In comparison to most Colleges, the College campus of Ness Wadia is bigger and better in many senses. The buildings were old but have been renovated during the time, the newest building, the BBA building was developing. Labs and libraries will have all the equipment and books required. The playground was the biggest USP of Ness Wadia College campus as I never saw the ground when students were not in it. The canteen was big but served very spicy food so I stayed out of it.

There were fractions and moments that I will never forget about our College. I never had any issues with the hierarchy, faculty, or the students. None of the students had those kinds of things here because the courses that demanded more studies, the students got busy that way, and, in our course, the students had all the time in the world to roam in the campus or outside the campus. The College has proved in the campus life space by adding many events and annual fests to its calendar, so one can do all the things that they love other than studies.
