LPU MCA Review By Apeksha Chopra

'LPU' is magnificent as the pace keeps picking up not in terms of education but also otherwise. We were flying all over the University for two years as MCA classes were held at noon, so we had all the time during the morning to do all the things we loved. From dance classes to yoga classes, there's everything on the campus. LPU for sure has a bright future as the University is recognized internationally too. Some of the things that LPU does are like what we see in Universities abroad. I have my cousins studying in Canada, and even they were surprised with the kind of culture and life that we have at LPU. So, for all the other Universities in Punjab, they will have to go a long way to beat the kind of environment that LPU has created. LPU always looks like a full house because even after so many food joints, it's tough to find a place in any of the joints during noon. So, my life at LPU will always be a special moment for me.

Academics in PG are more of an eliminator because if you don't learn during PG, then it's all over for you. One can't keep studying, and so the University has ensured that all the PG students at the University are made skilful not with course curriculum but also by applying it in practicals as well. Most students get nervous during practicals, and that nervousness was removed with ease at the University. I will add one more fact to academics which says a lot about the temperament of the faculty and the management. Education at LPU comes off with any lean patch during the entire course.

Nearly thousands of eyes were on the faculty, so they were under pressure to perform. They introduced themselves in the initial few days and talked about their background. They all were qualified from top Universities in the country and have hordes of teaching experience behind them. So, since the onus was on them, they took it on their chin and delivered when it mattered the most. It shows the character of a man; I mean, this is what they have prepared for all their life. Any teacher needs a stage to show what they can bring, and LPU provided them with the biggest stage as most students who joined LPU were naïve at the beginning but left the University with a tag of Pro.

As time grew at the University, placements were the only thing that kept running at the back of my mind. Nothing failed at the University, and so I was hopeful that even the placement part will be passed, and come the hour, come to the man as placements happened so swiftly and many students of the University of MCA were placed with dream packages. All IT companies and start-ups that need IT solutions have come for placements. From Lenskart to Farm Fresh, all these start-ups that are now unicorns have been the University's friends for placements. Also, most placements were offered jobs in Delhi, which was the best part as companies like TCS and Infosys were sending students to their Chennai and Bangalore offices. I was happy with Delhi and, thus, got placed in one of India's biggest lens making companies, Lenskart, from the campus.

In each part I am writing, I am thinking, I have already mentioned the pinnacle; but trust me, the pinnacle hasn't come yet. Hostels were close to the pinnacle of the University as girls can feel as safe as they wanted at the girl's hostel. Curfew time was strict, and along with the chief warden, who was allotted a room at the hostel building, there were two other wardens, too, who kept running up and down to keep a check on the students. Home-cooked food presented in a buffet style gave us the feel of as if we had our meals at some big hotels. Also, there was a lot of variety in food as no vegetables were repeated in the week.

If the hostel has missed the pinnacle, then the infrastructure hasn't. Even after spending two years at LPU, I guarantee there are some blind or hidden spots at the campus that I have missed. I enjoyed walking, but walking through the entire campus was impossible for me. Because the campus is so huge, I will say that whatever little I saw was beautiful as there were a salon, shopping mall, medical store, and enough food options to make sure that we never stepped out of the campus. I didn't, and many girls like me, too, didn't go out as the infrastructure of the University has almost everything that Chandigarh, in general, has in one entire sector.

Campus life at LPU was also one of the most efficient aspects of the University. In MCA, we didn't have much time because, for our department, there was one techno event. However, we were allowed to go and see any events that were happening on campus. I wish I had that much time because I kept studying and studying hard in the quest for placements. It was unfortunate that the last three months of campus life were lost due to Covid as many of my plans of having fun at the campus were ruined along with that.
