KIIT School of Computer Engineering B.Tech Review By Prince Singh

I joined Kalinga institute this year in Bachelor of Technology program in Computer Engineering. It has been more than 3 months of experiencing college life, and I would gladly want to tell you that it has one of the best campuses among other institutes of India. Around 25 acres of lush green campus which is very big, also with the fabulous transportation facilities among the campus. The infrastructure is just astonishing. There is a very big central library with a huge number of books to help us both academically and socially. There is Biju Patnaik indoor stadium followed by Viswanathan Anand chess hall to support every type of sports you are interested in. If we come to the academics, there is very friendly faculty out there to help you both in the class and outside the class. If anyone is in dilemma to take admission, I would suggest you to just have a look at the institute before making any decision.

As I am from the Computer Science branch, I would like to inform you that you have to pass with more than 80 to 85 percentile in your KIITEE exam to get into the Computer Science branch. This year, there are a total of 4,000 students in this program. Although the student intake is high, the placement records are also good. Nevertheless, you should not take it as guaranteed, as you should develop your skills simultaneously with a good academic record.

I would like to tell you that we have faculties who have graduated from National Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Technology, not only this but also have Ph.D degrees in their teaching subject. They are very friendly and helpful. Not all but some teachers are there who interact with the students less. The way of teaching is good or not depending on student to student, but most students like their professors’ teaching style. Yet, I will say some teachers are average at teaching. They have very distinctive types of style in teaching, which might be good for some or might not be for some students.

There is a Placement Cell here and it plays a vital role in the placement of the students. Yet, some students can't get placed because of their bad academics.

We have an elegant hostel and mess here. The hostel rooms are very neat and tidy. The mess food is average. The hostel rules are very strict here as the in-time for students is only 7:00 PM. There are many rules that are meant for students for their wellbeing.

The campus has a wide range of big infrastructure. They have different schools for different courses like campus 3 is for Civil Engineering, campus 17 for Computer Science and many more. The infrastructure is just astonishing from both outside and inside. We also have gardens around the campus, which is lush green. The design of the building is just fabulous. You can see a wide range of different architecture.

I had the best college life experience ever. There is a huge crowd over here with whom you can socialize. You will get to meet different types of people. There are many societies that you can join to have a new skill. Fests are conducted frequently in which celebrities are also sometimes invited. To conclude I can say that your campus experience is going to be like a roller coaster ride.
