Once IIMs admissions are done, the next in the percentile columns are invited by FMS for GD & PI round. Hence proven, that FMS is next to IIMs. At FMS, one thing which I think I should make clear is that all the running has to be done by the students. In management studies, there is no spoon-feeding, but all students get is a wooden spoon. Once the first semester went by, we had it easier because adjusting here took a while, but once we did, and then everything looked regular. The placements from FMS are a delight as not it were 100% but also placements as good as IIMs. The infrastructure was perplexing because this is the only area where it can't be compared to any B-Schools. It's a small old campus with hardly any facilities that modern B-Schools have. A few mysteries were untangled like why students doing management studies are paid so heavily. The first thing that we were taught at FMS was that only our initial salary depends on which College we have passed out from, because at the end of the day, our performance will determine how far we will go in future.

Academics here was about matchups as they are really important. We never had statistics classes immediately after economic classes. So, even the classes were organized so well that we didn't lose interest in studies. After every lecture, we were provided a mini-break of 10 minutes. The students were free to express who prefers what. One thing, though, is that students themselves have to be good enough to adapt and change because everything won't be taught in classes at FMS.

Faculties always motivated us by saying we deserved to be at FMS and they helped us create that magic in ourselves to find motivation on studying 24*7. All what I expected from our faculties were not fulfilled because they were a force to reckon with, but would help only in extreme cases. They made us self-sufficient by making us believe and finding the way for ourselves. It all depends on how a person takes feedback as many thought faculties are a little cruel, while I feel exactly the opposite.

IT, FMCG, Capital Goods sectors top brands were at the FMS campus for placements. This is not all as India's biggest company Reliance Industries too, have persisted with the students of FMS since decades. RIL hires a majority of students from FMS every year and this is why one can look at the board of RIL. Many senior persons in the company are FMS passed out. Average salary was a shade above 10 lakhs and the highest salary offered has no limit. I heard two such figures in 2017, but because I couldn't meet them in person, I won't be able to justify that figure. What was important is how many students were placed, and that figure was 100%.

The College doesn't have space to have a new building, which is indeed the need of the hour; then how can they have hostels. 60% of the College strength comprises outsiders and yet there are no hostels or any special provisions for students to avail hostel facilities. The DU hostels, which are unhygienic, and full of shit do have FMS student's quota, but I didn't know anyone who dared staying at the DU hostels. The College needs to address this part soon because during our batch the outsider's strength was 60% which is less according to me. Many students with the same percentile as ours have opted for other Colleges that offer good hostel facilities.

The building and the entire campus might look old, but luckily the inside part has been renovated and is being renovated well. Classrooms turned digital and ACs have been installed to make the atmosphere inside the classrooms bearable. The College's auditorium was tiny and even the little strength of FMS couldn't find seats for themselves during the events. The garden at the backend was well maintained as that is the only hangout zone for the students at FMS campus. The canteen was the other one, but there were enough food joints in the vicinity that during the breaks, I used to go there with my friends.

Life at FMS was like a slit throat. If assignments were assigned by College, I would have been okay with getting a few lesser marks. But because most assignments provided were industrial assignments, I had no option but to do them all. As soon as College time ended, although there was no fixed time, whenever it happened, I rushed home and got on with them. All that FMS campus life has taught is that hard work is the only mantra as one has to keep working hard because lazy ducks die early.
