Jagannath Community College BBA Review By Shaurya Saini

JIMS isn't just an aggregate College, but the impact and context in which the studies are done here are amazing. JIMS was an obvious choice for me as BBA is not offered by many Colleges in Delhi as students are chasing B. Com or B. Com (Hons). JIMS is one of the superstar Colleges of Delhi, though it isn't that famous but is situated in one of the famous landmarks of the city. JIMS has got a 70% placement record; the students here are what have done PG and are now at some Top positions in top corporations. If that's not all, JIMS has a great infrastructure and one of the best extra-curricular activities lined up for students. The management is one of the best as they talk one-on-one with students rather than threatening them to call parents. I mean superb as students can realize their mistakes and in terms of life lessons, JIMS can give one of the best crash courses.

The strike rate of academics here was almost 150 because the semester course, which was for 5 to 5 and a half months, was done before 4 months. So, JIMS academics are a difference-maker because when the academic season starts, things go slow, but once the pilot enters the cockpit, it just takes off. With a lot riding on the course because BBA is not another course but a course which can help many industries get the right people to administer their businesses. Also, doing an MBA without a BBA can be a lot of fuss, as I saw in my PG College that students with B. Com and Engineering degrees struggled to get anywhere close to many of the topics.

When the faculties started taking classes, they were winning hearts in almost every class. Nothing was taught without giving examples and real examples, so that students could have a bit of laughter and banter too. How to make things interesting is what one can learn from them as all of them have a great sense of humor. This rare quality of theirs is something which I have boasted every time we talk about our College life. They were responsible for a large part of the streak where College has produced close to 90% results for 4-5 years on a trot. It wasn't like they passed everyone on purpose, but they have made sure that even the non-serious students take exams seriously. So, the quality professors here have made life amazing at JIMS.

I have no choice but to name the person responsible for getting industries at the campus and it was none other than Nirmal Bhatnagar who was our dean then. She had great connections and has been a part of many forums where she has promoted our College and industries have started pouring in since then. Companies like BHEL, NTPC, Box 8, Biryani By Kilo, Taco Bell, Crown Plaza and many others came to hire students at JIMS and offered salaries in the range of 20-30k depending on the skill set.

A lack of hostels has denied many outsiders from joining this College. Many Colleges have now started off-campus hostels, and JIMS, too, will have to do that, if they have students from other cities and states. There are many PGs and flats available nearby, but a hostel is a hostel and unfortunately, there's no such facility provided by JIMS. Also, the students of JIMS don't have any reservations at the DU hostel, so students who come from other cities have to manage their accommodation by themselves.

Just the three buildings, and that too small is what the campus is all about. One was the administration building; one was where our classes were held, and the third was the fun building as it had an auditorium, canteen, student zone, gazebos, etc. The ground, too, was quite small, and so if a match was played, it was difficult to find the space among the 11. The Nescafe bar close to the gate had few seats and that was the main reason for fighting on the campus as those who grab it first, the seats are theirs, then. The cleanliness of the College needs some extra mention as everything was so well maintained that it is tough to find filth or littering done inside the campus.

One can enjoy campus life only if they make good friends. Luckily, Delhiites are warm that way and therefore striking cords with our classmates was never an issue for me. I made friends and joined a couple of societies, including the Nukkad Dangar. The Nukkad Natak event of JIMS was covered by various print media houses and I performed at the Natak for all three years. JIMS has two fests every year and I have hardly missed being a part of both the fests.
