Jagannath Community College BBA Review By Monik Dhawan

JIMS is a private College and probably the best for doing a BBA as most DU Colleges don't offer BBA programs. There's an entrance fee for admissions as there are very few seats and students are highly interested in taking up this course. The College has done one thing particularly well and that is making people confident. All the things called standing up in the crowd, stage fear, and all vanished once I joined JIMS Rohini Sector 3. Students here can't keep themselves away from the razzmatazz that JIMS brings along. One exceptional thing about the College is that the College is in Delhi but its affiliation is with 'Hisar University'. So, you get a degree from a central University rather than a fake private University. Students came here for fun as the maximum students here were non-serious, but the faculty worked hard on each one of us and made us aware of what we should do in the future. So, JIMS was a nice experience as I passed out 6 years back and it still feels like I was a part of it yesterday.

The College's most famous program is mass communication and I also intended to do that but changed my mind as my elder brother was doing MBA and he advised me to do BBA. BBA was about learning management subjects and coming from a family business; I did my practicals at my dad's office because, without practical application, management studies are of no use. While I was studying, the age of social media influencers was at the top and therefore the subject of digitization was added to our course. Likewise, many unwanted and unnecessary subjects were added and unfortunately, none of them was optional. Well, I passed my BBA with flying colors as internal markings were generously given at JIMS.

Faculties were one of the honest ones that you will find as they were very hard working. Students were non-serious, but it hardly bothered them as they kept doing their jobs. They brainwashed a few, but the adamant types remained the same, and one can't complain about faculties for that. I mean, its Delhi after all, and students do things over the top here. The camaraderie between students and faculty was great as they would pull our legs, shake our legs with us, and sometimes even crack jokes in the classes so that the mood remains light.

JIMS Rohini Placement cell has managed to bring in a lot of start-ups to its campus and sorry to say, not many established names have entered JIMS for placements. Companies like Percept, 24*7 stores, Evian Water, and LensKart, among others, have made their way to JIMS to ensure placements of 15-25k are allotted to students. In a city like Delhi, these figures may not help earn bread and butter but still some students who had the placements decided to join and are doing well today. If I compare the placements of JIMS with many DU Colleges like St. Stephens or the Hindu College, the placements of JIMS are better than that of B.Com (Hons) students there.

JIMS, Rohini doesn't have a hostel under its belt. Having said that, I doubt if more than 8-10 outsiders were there in my class. However, if outsiders come to JIMS, they can easily find PGs as the area close to the College is full of boys and girls PGs. Also, there are many food joints close to the College, so finding a good mess or good food joints is also not that difficult.

Let's be honest about the fact that JIMS is one of the smallest campuses. Just 3 small buildings in all were divided into Block A, Block B, and Block C. The library at the campus was big and also air-conditioned. Just below the library, there was a nice refreshment stall and we used to refer to it as a College canteen. Students who like their cup of coffee every evening can grab their poison from the Nescafe bar that serves coffees at discounted prices. The auditorium was always busy as rehearsals and practices for the events kept on for most of the year. The College is in one of the prime locations and one can find many places to go close to the campus, from nice food joints to malls, everything is in close vicinity of the campus.

JIMS Rohini campus life was sensational because studies were not the primary thing to be done at the College. Many students came to build a future in acting, modeling, dancing, photography and others. JIMS has provided some good enough platforms because the natak mandali of the College was sent to NSD for performing. So, the two most important aspects of campus life are stability and solidity, both of which were provided by JIMS.
