Jagannath Community College MBA Review By Suman Pahwa

MBA was never an option but because most friends of mine went for the glory course, I too followed the wind. The wind was quite inclined towards MBA a few years down the line but the competition was quite high and JIMS entrance was the easiest as I honestly feel it was just a formality. The GD which was indeed a fish market round also went horrible, yet I was called for an interview, and soon after that, I was told, I am eligible to enroll for MBA. This was enough as my parents were all over the moon as I was going to be the first person in the family to MBA. After enquiring a lot of things because placements were not so compulsory for me but good college life was and luckily JIMS Rohini has presented me a platter of happiness served straight under my throat. So, on that note, JIMS was excellent as the crowd here is amazing and unlike other colleges in Delhi, JIMS Sector 3 doesn’t have many societies but there are committees who make sure that every month we have at least one small event.

Since it was MBA so studies couldn’t be ignored completely. The classes were mostly on time and students had to be present because those who weren’t were enquired about. All this happened in the first semester as after that the college knew who was serious and who wasn’t. So, the ones who were serious were definitely given some extra attention and for those who weren’t, the college awarded them more practicals so that they can learn through those methods. I did nearly 8-9 projects both on-campus and off-campus. I took marketing as a specialized subject and trust me, it’s the worst because, for every theory part, a practical application was assigned. Well, it was fun though as academics here were tough but the college never made us feel so.

It’s tough to describe them in words because they were brilliant. They showed signs of seriousness only when required otherwise they were quite chilled out. They were subjective with the ones they felt otherwise their humor was something to watch out for. They did their best to bring the best out of all of us. Well, they were chilled out but as they say one should never needle a sleeping lion because if one went on test their patience, they will show what they are. So, taking them lightly or ignoring all they say was never a great idea but if we do even half of what they have asked for then they were all for their students.

Look, JIMS is a private institute and therefore placements guarantee will never be there. This is also a lesson for all the MBA aspirants who think they can get white-collar jobs by enrolling in any MBA college. Well, JIMS was good with education but not even half as good with the placements. Anyways, the placements may not be there for the ages but quality students were placed in quality companies with packages ranging from 4 to 7 lakhs. If one wants, they can celebrate with this mixed feeling because what JIMS taught us was that we should celebrate each other’s success. So, I wasn’t placed but I was happy for all my friends who were placed.

Well, I will have to mourn here because just like my UG College, JIMS too didn’t have any hostel facilities. Unlike Mata Sunder Devi College, JIMS was more of a Delhi crowd and hardly any outsiders were here for at least an MBA. In BBA and Mass Communication, there were quite a few outsiders but definitely not in MBA as I can count the number of outsiders at my fingertips. Yes, they were that few.

Well, if cleanliness is a part of the infrastructure, then yes, the infrastructure is awesome. The college area was quite small though as the small ground or rather multipurpose ground was all we had for every single event or meeting. The auditorium was so small that even one department could hardly fit in that. The classrooms were excellent though as all the complaints that I had with my previous college were non-existent here. Some of the unique things here was a radio station which was for mass communication students. For hotel management students there were special labs and a kitchen. The four-floor building had so many things and three entrances through which we could enter.

Well at JIMS Rohini, one can enjoy their life to the fullest. From Marketing Club to HR Club, our department had around 6-7 clubs. My favorite though was the cultural club as our college was full of singers and guitarists. So, on the days of events, we could pick our corners and enjoy bonfires and guitars with some melanin music with our friends.
