If one needs quality education in Bhopal then, there’s no better place than IPER. Some ruckuses are there like the director of the Institute feels like IPER is as good as IIMs, but for that they will have to build an Institute like that and also has the students of the same quality. So, if I leave out the strictness part, IPER Bhopal is great. Once you enter the College means you have to stay there till 5 pm. You can’t leave the College in between and that was the worst part. There were times when the lectures got canceled and we still had to stay at the campus, but it’s not that the campus is not great. I used to feel bad then, but now when I think of it, I feel nostalgic. IPER has roped in a team of faculties that are vastly experienced and highly qualified. In Central India, IPER is one of the best Colleges for commerce students, as I have checked the ranking of various other Colleges, but no one is half as good as IPER.

IPER indeed makes sure that students are ready to learn the corporate culture from the BBA program itself. Even the placements were offered to BBA students, which is indeed sparse. Here, there is no option but every student has to attend six seminars each semester, have to do at least 3 workshops, and have to be a part of 20+ presentations in classrooms. So, a complete corporate style studies as we had to be nicely tucked-in during seminars or presentations and all eyes were on us, as MBA students were also called upon to see us perform. The reason why they were called upon is to give us an idea on how seniors give their feedback in corporate culture. All in all, academics here never looked like the academics but looked like more of a working style study.

Faculties experience and qualification is amazing as out of 24 faculties that we had, 20 were certainly doctorate. They used to be invited for many international seminars too. Many faculties were mostly on leave as they went to attend seminars, and conferences at IIMs. So, what all they saw there, they reported to the dean and the dean in return, wanted the same to be followed at our College. It was impossible and even the faculties knew that but the dean was adamant. The faculties, though, never relied on syllabus but used to teach us things that will help us for the future. They certainly did that with all their heart and that is why many students from IPER have reached IIMs or other top B-Schools.

The sparse thing is hard to get but not at IPER. Placements for BBA and B. Com (Hons) students were done simultaneously. Nearly, half the BBA students were placed with an average package of 3 lakhs per annum and highest one, who got inked by HDFC Bank, grabbed an offer worth 7 lakhs per annum. It was mostly the banks; I chose finance as my main subject. Marketing, Operations, and other specialization students too had similar packages jobs offered.

IPER doesn’t have its hostel and that’s probably one of the drawbacks of the Institute. To be fair, the campus is small and having a hostel inside the campus means giving away all the open areas. A lot of outsiders join this College and MBA, which is more of a residential program today in every big Institute, IPER still doesn’t believe so. Comparison with IIM is good but then the College should have their planning done for that too.

A campus size of 5-acres is good enough as it has two multi-storey buildings that take care of our classes, and library area. The small house as it can’t be called a building, has an auditorium at front and the other side gate opens towards the cafeteria, where we have posters of ‘BOB Marley’ and ‘John F Kennedy’ with their famous quotes. The playground is great, as the College has built a few tents as restrooms which are duly required while playing cricket or football. The volleyball and basketball courts were our points for sitting with friends and having some chill.

IPER can be compared with IIMs in this part. An event every week at IIM, yes, an event every week at IPER. A seminar every bi-weekly at IIM, yes, a seminar every bi-weekly at IPER. TedX at IIM, TedX at IPER. So, all in all the feel of a top management school is provided by IPER, it’s that the campus was a bit small. The location is great but what’s the use when we couldn’t step out till 5 pm. There were many noteworthy events and one of them was Unplugged which draws its inspiration from ‘MTV unplugged’, where all the singers of the College were given the opportunity to take the center stage and sing their heart out. The annual event for UG students was ‘Spiritz’ which was held in May every year, before the finals.
