ICFAI University Jaipur: Campus Life, Academics, and More

I genuinely had a good experience in ICFAI University Jaipur. I made friends and unforgettable memories on its campus in last 4 years. I cannot write this review without appreciating the panoramic sunset that can be witnessed from the campus. It is underpinned by its manifold academic programs, assiduous faculty, and cultural approach. Having said that, there are some other factors as well which seek improvement. For instance, the infrastructure, practical learning, placement opportunities, and management of my course. If these areas are improved, the overall student experience will be lot better. For students who want a relaxed environment filled with cultural diversity and moderate academic pressure, this university is a fair option.

There are total of 5 departments namely Tech School, Law School, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Liberal Arts, and Business School providing numerous courses. I would be specific on the courses provided by Law School i.e. BA LLB (Hons.), BBA. LLB (Hons.), LLB and LLM. There are almost 450-500 students in Law department. There is no specific exam or test for enrolling in here. As far as I know, everybody who has completed 12th can enroll in these courses. Although, the percentage of 12th grade matters as it provides a good amount of scholarships on the basis of that as well as CGPA. Over the past 4 years, I have felt that the academic level of the school has declined somewhere. Given that fact, the school is still striving to provide good academicians and fulfill academic requirements. A lot of pressure is placed on the theoretical importance of the subject and therefore students find themselves lacking somewhere from the perspective of practical knowledge. Thus, I would say that it provides a moderate academic environment.

The tuition fee of BBA LLB (Hons.) and BA LLB (Hons.) is Rs 41,500 per semester for domicile students and Rs. 46,500 per semester for non-domicile students. Fortunately, if you have scored well in your 12th standard, you will be eligible for scholarship (upto 40%).

The majority of faculty members are young and in their prime years. That's why all of them are very passionate and zealous towards what they do. All of them are well qualified. They are either PhD holders or currently pursuing one. They are very supportive and approachable. They connect with the students very well and also know what is best for them. Their teaching approach is quite different from the traditional teaching. That's why it brings a fresh perspective to the classroom. This is also beneficial for teacher-student dynamic because students feel a lot more comfortable to discuss their problems. Recently, new faculties were hired which has improved the situation to a certain extent. But there is still a lot of scope for betterment. The faculty makes sure that credit of the subject is completed and nothing in the course handout is left untouched. They make sure that no student faces any trouble in understanding the concepts. The method of teaching includes PPTs Group Discussion, Presentation, etc.

ICFAI University Jaipur has a placement cell for all the departments. Average or below average is the word that I am going to be using for the placements in my course. Few local or regional firms come here for recruitment. The highest package was to the tune of 9 LPA, secured by 3 students in the department, who were recruited by HDFC Bank. The average package is very low, therefore at this moment. Other than that, I seriously recommend that the university does need to work hard to get good companies to recruit from here.

There are college hostels on the campus as well as off the campus. Girl’s and boy’s hostels are available. The hostel infrastructure is average. You get AC and non-AC rooms depending on what you choose. But the hostel capacity on campus is not enough to accommodate all the hostlers. So there are off campus hostels as well, some right next to our college campus and some a little far away. Most of the new students are kept in off campus hostels. The off campus hostel which is far from the college requires you to take university transport service. Again, the construction process for new hostels in the campus is going on right now and is expected to be completed soon. Other than that, the hostel has all the basic facilities required. Hostel charges for 2023-24 were Rs. 52,500 per semester. This charge may vary as per the preference of the room (i.e., AC/non-AC and single, double & triple sharing).

ICFAI University Jaipur is situated a little outside the main city. The campus is lush green. There is no shortage of space. We have 3 blocks. There is a main block that houses the Law, Business and Liberal Arts department. There are different blocks for the Tech and Pharmacy department. If I had written this review a year before, I must have mentioned that the classrooms are spacious with nice comfortable chairs and tables. All the classrooms have ACs and good lighting with projectors, and overall the classroom infrastructure is quite up to the mark. There is a canteen, which functions till 7 PM at the evening, providing a variety of delicacies. There are sports facilities such as cricket & football ground, basketball ball courts, handball ground, kabaddi fields, badminton courts, and cricket nets as well. The athletic track is also present. There are also computer lab, library, seminar halls, and different labs.

Campus Life is mostly chill. However, the crowd has significantly increased this year. There are clubs on university level as well as every department has its separate clubs, committees, and centers. For instance in Law School, there are 10 clubs, 3 committees, and 7 centers. Events are organized frequently by all the departments. In the law department, there is a competition, seminar, or event every Wednesday. Other than that, the major events include Garba night, Diwali meet freshers, and the annual university-level sports championship: ‘Forza’. Other festivals that are celebrated are Janmashtmi, Holi, Onam, Ganesh Chaturthi, and so forth. A lot of students hails from south India and that's why those festivals are also celebrated here with the same enthusiasm. International conferences management fest are some of the events, which are hosted on a grand level and attract people on a larger scale to be part of it. Such events not only give academic exposure but also provide students with a chance to create networking.
