New Delhi Institute of Management PGDM Review By Sparsh Dhingra

The big thing about NDIM Delhi is that is provides both and that is quality placements and quality education. The fact is that NDIM can place its students even without holding training sessions or whatever as a lot of corporate people were invited in two years and one skill which is commonly checked in interviews is the communication skill. Our communication skills were already checked during those interactions. Before I start my review, I made up my mind that whatever score I achieve, I will be going to Delhi for studies. IMI Delhi, FORE, and FMS were the first choices but my score wasn’t that big and in fact, I would have got IMI but I chose NDIM over it. So, the hostels were good, faculties brilliant and placements outstanding and that made my life at NDIM a one to remember for a lifetime.

Academics never went out of control as one thing which was sheerly done at NDIM was studies. Yes, we had a lot of stuff coming up including the unnecessary assignments and addition of few unnecessary topics and subjects. I am sorry I am saying this but studying moral science while pursuing management studies I don’t think will do any good to anyone. Moving on, the trimester system which was the first surprise for me is how the exams and classes were scheduled. Trimester of 3 months and more and then exams twice for each trimester meant that we had to keep up and still as I said, it never went out of control. We were taken to Singapore as a part of academic and industrial training. So, to make things happen, the college has done all that it could because international trips are not even there at FMS, or the IIMs.

It’s true of people like the faculties of NDIM that they were best to none. Particularly judging them on their teaching abilities as finishing such a wide course by making sure that students are not left with any doubts or queries can only be done by NDIM faculties. The faculties managed to maintain students and the management because the outside noise from management never bothered them. All they cared about is students and for that they did everything possible, brought out almost all the tricks out of their hat to make us understand the subjects and the importance of why are we learning that subject.

For all those who have had complaints with the placements, I want to ask them a few questions. The first of those is that there were companies from all sectors. For example, from banking space there was HDFC Bank, Citi Bank, Deutsche Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank among others. From IT Space, Wipro, TCS, and Accenture were there. From PUC space BHEL, IOC, and Hindustan Copper was there. So, what was there which the college has missed and still I see only 70% of the students being able to get placed. Some of them were not happy with the salary offered while some of them have messed up at the interviews. Well, the gist of the matter is that around 40+ companies were there to take care of around 500 students and still the one, who have missed placements, should bring their chin up and accept that college can’t be blamed for this.

NDIM has tied up with a corporate house to lease their hostel facilities on rent to NDIM. The hostel were at a little distance from the college but still not that far that students have to book an OLA to come to the college. The hostel was great as only 30 rooms are there on single accommodation and those who has availed it first never leave single room, so I had to stay at a sharing room. The food was good but not as good as what we get on the streets of Indore.

NDIM Delhi campus was one of the most beautiful campuses of Delhi but certainly quite small. The auditorium ended even before it started. One canteen was definitely not enough and we used to take the food parcel and sit in the small garden of the college and eat there. The classrooms were honestly small too but were sufficient to fix in the students that come here. The library of the college that has around 30-40k books was great because more than books it was the study area of the library that impressed me more.

The campus life was here about competition. We knew that the placements are not 100%, so now matter how many pacts we make or the promises that we make, it will all come down to who got placed and who hasn’t. There were two fests organized at the campus. One was the intercollegiate fest called Manthan and the colleges own cultural fest called Spandan.
