IIT Indore: Developing Fast & Great for Research

Overall Rating
My overall experience is good. IIT Indore is developing at a great pace. Research work being done here is awesome and that is why NIRF rankings are also good. Sports facilities have developed immensely after new director's inception. They are also one of the best among all the IITs now. It would be a great institute in 2 to 3 years. Academics are a bit strict and that makes you get lesser grades as compared to other institutes. Food options are very limited and needs improvement.
 

Academics Rating
I chose Mechanical Engineering although I was not much interested in it. It has all the facilities for the Mechanical students like fully functional central workshops and labs. Admission process is normal like what is followed in all the IITs. You need to give and clear JEE Advanced and then go for centralized JoSAA Counseling. We have a total of 8 semesters and each semester has 2 exams. One is Mid-semester and other is end-semester. The academics in general are tough and it is a great deal to score good grades here.
The fee structure is around 1.4 Lakh per semester where 1 Lakh is tuition fee and Rs. 15,000 is hostel fee. Rest of the fee goes for other expenses including mess, gymkhana, etc. Students with family income less than 1 Lakh get full wavier of tuition fee and Students with family income less than 5 Lakh get 2/3rd wavier in tuition fee.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty in IIT Indore is decent. If you are doing M.Tech or PhD, it is a great place and research work going on under various professors is top notch. Faculty here is highly qualified and experienced as many of them are coming here after teaching in older IITs. Some of the faculties are strict. On the other hand, some are very helpful and with only little effort, you can score well.
 

Placement Rating
Placements here were very good until last to last year, i.e. batch 2023. Now the placements are a bit less, both in number because of global recession mainly. The average although is high because many students score high off-campus placements.
 

Hostel Rating
Residential facilities in IIT Indore are best among all the IITs. You get to live in flats with 5 to 6 people in each flat. You get private rooms and most importantly attached washrooms. You get a attached kitchen and a small fridge. There is a common room with sofas where you can sit and enjoy.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure is highly modern. All the buildings being made here are different and not usual. Like LRC (Library) is made of glass on the outer side which makes it look magnificent. The lab buildings (called as POD) are also constructed very differently. Auditorium here is one of the best. The classes are fully equipped with all the facilities. Only thing that it lacks is variety in food options and very less food outlets. Sports infrastructure has grown immensely recently and it is has got national level swimming pool, athletics court, squash court, and badminton court.
 

Campus Rating
Overall campus is great. The crowd most importantly is one of the best as it has the best minds of the nation. There are many clubs here like robotics club, aeromodelling club, photography club, movie-making club, etc. I have been a part of many of these and working in these clubs was the best time of my campus life. Annual fest happening is called ‘Fluxus’. It is quiet magnificent. Overall, my campus life has been rewarding and enjoyable.

    IIT Indore is one of the best institutions of India. It is well known for its beautiful and futuristic infrastructure. Apart from infrastructure, academics of the institute are also best. The institute follows the curriculum of IIT Bombay as it is mentored by IIT Bombay. According to my rank, I was getting core branches in 2nd generation IITs, so I decided to choose IIT Indore because of its campus life and placements.   • IIT Indore – An amazing institute for research

    IIT Indore has a beautiful campus and phenomenal infrastructure. It is of 500+acres with all greenery here and 200 acres of forest. We have 5 hostels which are not less than 5 star hotels.     It's although my first visit but it’s actually beyond my expectations. I couldn't believe such a college and a vibrant life. Here the most wonderful site is its infrastructure and academics. It also has such a campus that out of daily hustle you can breathe your soul in the lap of nature. Its beauty, the professors, staff members, and security members all are very helpful.
