IIEBM Indus Business School PGDM Review By Rahul Bansiwal

IIEBM has paid back the faith as I did PGDBM just for placements and I got that with ease. In B-Schools, it’s about playing the cards right. No institute can have 100% placements be it IIMs, Symbiosis or the XLRIs. Students had to find their way out by playing their ace while doing PGDM. One thing for sure that student can be circumspect at Indus because the course is spectacular and the exposure that we were provided was great. Like I said the superior performance from students are required as the buildup is pressurizing but this is what we came for. Faculties of Indus were the prominent figures in the set up on institutes as the place was a chuck of rocks and walking on it was not easy. However, a steady start was ensured by the management and the faculties and then built up has to be from the students end. The hostels were great too as they were right next to the main building, so we just had to get off the bed and classes were the next thing we could be at. So, IIEBM Wakad had no problems at its surface because they did their part and the onus was then on students to work hard and get the best out of the institute.

Academics were like a partnership between the students and the faculties. The faculties passed on their knowledge and students had to favor them by doing well in practicals and exams. The intent was pretty clear from the college and that is why nothing was easy peasy over here. Along with PGDM, there were many certification courses available and we were asked to pick and choose one or two as that will strengthen our portfolio and chances to get a job. CRISIL, AMAZON, CISCO, launched some of their certification courses and online classes for the same were provided back then. So, I finished my college before COVID but I tasted the feel of online classes during these certification programs.

Faculties background were such that they were used to hard yards and we were not. At least I was not for sure. However, didn’t had a choice though because no matter it’s a school or fag end of your academic career, you have to keep up with the faculties because having good terms with them will only help student’s cause. I was aware of this fact and that is why never indulged myself in any heated argument with them. Some students did and also paid the price for it.

Though our course had nothing much to do with technology but technology companies like Accenture, Wipro, Cisco, and others were some of the major recruiters of our batch. Banks were the second and then the other companies. ICICI securities was the one I was targeting as profit was the only chapter I understood during the entire course and to make profits for my clients became my ultimate goal. So, all thanks to IIEBM for getting students placed to their desire companies and that too with an average in-hand salary of 40-45k.

Both boys and girls IIEBM hostel were inside the premises and right next to each other. However, the exit points were different as we couldn’t enter their ways and they can’t trespass ours. The security was tight at both the hostels and the curfew timings were also strictly followed. The ground floor of the hostel had a mess and a student lounge. Mess was compulsory and that was the only worst part as hostel food was average but because mess fees have to be paid even if we use it or not, I had to deal with the food which I liked on some days and had to sleep hungry on some days.

There’s just one huge building as classes, staff rooms, libraries, auditoriums and all the other facilities were inside that building. One was open auditorium and was closed shell. The closed shell was small in comparison but was much better as the open auditorium was visible from all ends and every practice or seminars that happened there were viewed by everyone at the college. There was no sports ground as the campus is quite small and the parking area consume most of it. There was an indoor sports complex though that had some indoor sporting activities.

Indus Business School feels like bringing a change in the society and therefore many social awareness programs were conducted at the campus and off-campus. Students had no choice but to participate as every activity that we did were keenly watched. It doesn’t mean the college was not glamorous. It was Pune after all and having red carpet events and inviting celebrities during the events was a new normal here. I was happy to adjust in this new normal because coming from a humble background; it was beyond my reach to live among such a crowd for two amazing years.
