IIEBM Indus Business School PGDM Review By Mukesh Prajapat

Some of my friends went to Kolkata while some to Delhi, but I was certain that I have to go to Pune. Symbiosis and PUMBA were the colleges which was I was targeting but never mind as IIEBM too was quite good. IIEBM was the place where I learned innumerable things. IIEBM Wakad is into existence for over 20 years and has placed students to some of the most renowned companies. The campus building may be old but still daily mopping was done and there was an in-house staff of the college who took care of cleaning twice in a day. All the government developed programs were made mandatory here such as TedX, Swayam, and others. There were plenty to be honest but recalling all those names is not possible now. I will now give the biggest reasons why one will fall in love with this college is that there were temples of all for major religions followed in India. I have seen colleges that have Hindu temples, Churches, or the Gurudwaras but here nothing was left as from a Mosque to Temple, the campus had them all.

Academics here were a lot different than other B-Schools. We used to look at Symbi to be the college but they have themselves put up such a vast portion that students of there can’t do anything while at IIEBM, many certifications online courses could be done at ICT centre of the college. A certification program from CRISIL called the Wealth Manager Program enticed me the most as we already have an investment banker in our family and he persuaded me to go for it as invest in India was the slogan that made rounds in 2017 and today it is proved when all the other markets are in doldrums out financial market has still stood tall amid all the chaos.

I never missed being part of Symbiosis as a couple of our faculties were passed out from two different Symbiosis institutes. They told us that IIEBM is ahead of them but because the money game is with them, they are ahead in placements and rankings. Our faculties pushed us too hard because they wanted to make sure that maximum students of each and every batch should get placed. Since there were over 20 certification programs available the faculties asked each one of us about our areas of interest and suggested them program accordingly. Yes, they were all paid certification programs but the companies that offered those programs hired a few students. I can give my example for that reason. Thus, faculty always guided us in the right way because they worked for students’ interest and not just for their juicy salaries.

I was hired much before the placements happened by CRISIL who even came to the campus for placements. They took around 20 students and likewise many companies like Infosys, Tata Motors, and Kotak Mahindra Bank were the ones who took maximum students of our batch. The overall placement percentage was around 75 and the average salary during our batch was 6 LPA.

There was one boys and one girls hostel inside the campus. The hostels were fantastic as it was one of my wishes to stay at the hostel. The hostels were fully furnished and had superfast Wi-Fi connectivity. There was a common TV room and the security was water tight. The girls hostel was at the left of boys hostel but we knew that we had to walk straight from the hostel because the guards kept an eye on the students who tried to be over smart. There were solar water heaters installed and one can have hot water facility for bath during any season.

The campus wasn’t like a 50- or 100-acre campus. Also, the campus is in Wakad and not the main city of Pune. So, we had access to the highway and buses for Mumbai or other cities of Maharashtra was like a minute’s task. The classrooms were classy and as good as JLU for that matter as one has to pick his seat at the start and then have to sit there for the entire semester. As the benches too were ICT enabled. So, our attendance was marked as soon as we sat on our tables. The college’s auditorium called the Saragarhi auditorium. There was no sports ground but the indoor stadium named after none other than legendary PT Usha was one of the best.

Since, there were religious places of all religions, the IIEBM campus used to celebrate all the festivals at the campus. Be it Diwali, Eid, or Christmas, we used to have sweets at the campus as the college management used to distribute that among the students. So, we learned from the best and rubbed shoulders with some of the brightest students and what else I would have asked for.
