MAIMS New Delhi: for Law Students in IP University

I am in second year pursuing Law from MAIMS New Delhi. It is situated in Sector 22 in Rohini New Delhi. The nearest metro station is 6 KMs away from Rithala (red line). This institute along with its technology institute MAIT has recently completed 25 years as an educational institution.

The Law course was started in 2017 with 2021 being the first batch to pass out. This college is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi. It is counted in top 3 colleges of this university after its main campus in Dwarka and Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS). The academics overall, I would say are average. There are PSDA activities which you need to submit for internal assessment. Mooting each year within a batch is a compulsory practice. It is really upto you if this is what you aspire for. Attending lectures daily would really help in exams as most of the questions are direct and are based on the old school type question paper. Class notes, lectures, and a decent amount of study hours are more than enough to rank good among your batch.

The fee per year for my course is 1.2 Lakh, which is decent fee in my opinion. When I was preparing for CLAT and could not make it to an NLU, among all its counterparts in different cities across India, this fee was one of the most affordable one taking private colleges.

The faculty here is decent. You will get a mixed bag of faculties with some having an excellent acumen and knowledge whiles some being only for name sake. However, one thing for sure is that they are approachable. One can easily approach the faculty in case of any doubts, questions, or issues. Even Head of the department is approachable. You can approach him whenever required as his office is in the same floor as the other classes.

About the placements, do not expect a lot as there are very feeble chances of getting in campus placement. There are law firms and chambers, which do come during the internship and placement drive. The college will surely give you lot of exposure through various competitions such as moot courts, ADR events, seminars, etc.

The college does not offer any hostel facility for girls. There is boy’s hostel inside the campus, which serves good delicious meals. There are girls PGs or hostels near the college for girls.

The infrastructure is quite nice. After the main campus, it is the largest GGSIPU campus. The new building where law faculty settled is quite good in ambience. It has air-conditioned classes, smart boards, lifts, and good furniture. The college has moot court, auditorium, ground, and gym also. The college has 5 canteens (small and big). It has a DDA green belt.

Campus life is average. There is fest season during February or March, where all the department. College societies organize events, celebrity events, etc. Last year during the annual college fest and a consequent Law fest called ‘Navitas’, famous rapper Raftaar came. MAIMS New Delhi has different societies namely dance society, debate society, moot court society, Art society, Enactus, etc.
