GITAM University Visakhapatnam Academic Structure and Admission Process

As a student I expected a lot from my college. Every student have these expectations from there college. At first I was preparing for JEE and all to get admission in IITs, but unfortunately I haven't made it. Still I was searching for college like that which can compete at that level. So why not GITAM. As a Gitamite, I feel very happy that our college provides all the facilities, which are required for our student life journey. I think this college covered every aspect of student life where you can enjoy in fests, play in sports along with effective academics.

I am pursuing B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. As a student when I was in school I dreamed to do practical work like invention, design in automotive sector. For getting in college there is an entrance exam call GAT (GITAM admission test) with this score you can easily get into this college. In our B.Tech degree there is a criteria called 70+30, 70% internal and 30% external. For internal we have 20 marks quiz, 20 marks assignments, and 30 marks mid term exam, and for external 30 marks for semester end exam.

If you cleared GAT exam you will get scholarship. Also there are many ways to get scholarship, if your brother or sister is a pass out from this college or studying in this same college they will get scholarship.

Faculties are very friendly and also strict sometimes but they are highly qualified. Some of them are from IITs. Method of teaching is ppt. and projector with smart boards. They are good at solving problems and also they make us solve our problems. They also support and assist us and encourage us to do something big. I think ratio of students is high as compared to faculties. I felt very open with my faculties and they cleared my doubts anytime if they were available.

For this we have a department called GCGC where they personally monitor every student about this.

Yeah, it offers residential facilities. But for this they have some process to follow.
Yes girl’s and boy’s have separate hostel
Good quality foods 4 times a day
Annually (Rs.1,67,000/-)
For boys every student must report before 10pm
And for girls they have to report before 8pm

They have hostels for both boys and girls. Besides they provide a Library, sports area, cricket ground, football ground, badminton and tennis court, canteens, multiple auditoriums, ATMs and also they have a hospital called GIMSR. It has multiple academics block with classrooms and auditorium in each building. Classrooms are equipped with smart technology central air conditioning, sound proof walls and monitoring devices. For practical’s it has labs. It also has multiple parking areas for two wheelers and four wheelers separately. Good facility of Wifi, for handling medical emergency, and seating area provided. It also has 46 clubs and 26 sports clubs. Many fest are organised by this college every semester.

My overall campus life was fun and boring exploring many things. I explored every corner of college life in this college. With lot of good and bad memories, chilling with friends and enjoying in fests, studying together to playing sports together. There are thousands of memories I made in this college. Faculties are good but some faculties are so bad sometimes I felt very bad for them, but its okay they scold give directions for our good only so I ignored and am happy with my decision.
