Campus Life at DBUU Dehradun: Activities, Clubs, and More

My overall experience of DBUU Dehradun, upto date has been awesome. The infrastructure, faculty, students, and events have been amazing. It is a new experience each day at the university. The university is known for its location, placements, and fests that are organized every year in the campus. One should surely opt for Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University, if they want to experience new things and explore every aspect of their studies.

I was keen towards studying Literature and always took a deep interest in classical literature. There are many skills developed in this program as in your character building, critical thinking, creative knowledge, as well as a better hand at writing which definitely prepared you for industry. You can become an editor, a writer, a creative director, journalist, and a lot more. The eligibility criterion is that must have passed 10+2 with 60% minimum. The admission for my course is direct and simple. 2 sessions of exams per semester are held of 50 and 100 marks respectively. There are 2 sessions of exams in one semester. The mid-terms and the end-terms. Mid terms are of 50 marks while the end term carries a weightage of 100 marks. Exams are average. You can pass easily and even score better if you have listened attentively during the lectures. The curriculum follows as that of Delhi University and is revised every year.

The fee for all the courses is quite affordable at the university. Tuition fee per semester is Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 4,500 for examination. If you are a resident of Uttarakhand, a deduction of 25% from your tuition fee per semester is applied only Registration fee is Rs. 6,500. Merit based scholarships, state domicile scholarships, and girl child or single parent scholarships are also available but you can choose only 3 of them for the first year and after that one of them is applied for all other years.

There are 5 faculties for the English department. All of them PhD holders from top universities and each of them have been very kind and generous. You can reach out to them at any time of the day if you face any issue. The relationship between the students and faculties is understanding and friendly. We are taught with help of PPTs, group discussions, etc. which helps in making the lectures exciting and engaging.

As I am a day scholar, I do not have much idea about the hostel of the campus but since a few friends of mine stay in hostel, they frequently share their experiences to us. The hostels are built within the campus so it is easy for the hostlers. There are separate hostels for girls and boys. There is a gym, cafeteria, as well as library open to all girls and boys. The mess food is average because of the quantity it is made in. The campus timings are 9:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

The campus of DBUU Dehradun is located at the outskirts of the main city between trees and peaceful environment and is spread across 42 acres of the total area. The infrastructure of the university is quite amazing. There are different buildings for different departments. The classrooms are well ventilated with windows and sunlight and are spacious. There is a common library with academic books, seminar hall in our department. Cafeteria is always crowded and everything is affordable at reasonable prices. Medical as well as transport facilities are cheaper than other colleges.

Many departmental events are held on a regular basis to keep the students grounded, active, and curious. The annual fest of the university called 'Pink' is held every year in the month of April, which lasts for a week. Many top celebs like Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Pawandeep Rajan, etc. have organized concerts in the university. The aura during this time is energetic and one of the best times of the university. Students can join various clubs as in literature club, arts club, etc.
