Campus Culture of NSUT New Delhi

Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT) is a great university for taking admissions, especially for B.Tech degree in Delhi region. I had previously got Instrumentation and Control Engineering in other institute, but I've chosen Electronics & Communications Engineering in NSUT over that primarily due to location and placements track record. The fests and coding culture is one of the best out there, especially the cultural fest ‘Moksha’. The overall infrastructure, area and greenery are also great and which I like the most about this university.

I've chosen Electronics and Communications Engineering. I came across the information according to which Electronics branch will have a great edge in the coming future. The admission process is through JEE Main examination. You are required to have a good rank to get admission in this university. It depends on your category as well. Admission process is through Joint Admission Committee (JAC) Delhi counseling. There are 4 exams in a year two mid semester and two end semester exams. There is internal grading as well. Two exams are there in each semester i.e. one mid semester and one end semester. The exams are of moderate level. The course is updated every year, and it's helpful in real life challenges.

The fee of all the programs of Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) for the first year is Rs. 2,40,000. Seat acceptance fee is to be paid during JAC Counseling, which is Rs. 95,000, and Rs. 1,45,000 is to be paid after taking admission in the university. It totals to Rs. 2,40,000. No other charges are there other than this. If your family income is low or if you are meritorious students, there are several scholarship schemes like CVS-PK, PM Scholarship Scheme, etc.

Faculty members are quite experienced and educated. They have done their higher studies from great universities and some of them have done their Master’s from Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) as well. In first year, there are smart screens and digital notebooks available for faculty members to teach, some of the faculty members use the means of PPT as well, but from the second year, there are white boards and markers. Most faculties can easily solve problems related to their field of study. The teacher to student ratio in our university is quite average as there are more than 108 students in our class and only single faculty member is there for each subject, but in lab classes, there are groups divided within the class, so during lab classes, the teacher to student faculty ratio is better. Most of the faculty members share their contact details so that you can ask doubts during non-working hours. I can say they are approachable easily.

The placements are quite good in our university. There is placements and training cell that engages students in various training programs and provides placements and internships. Training and placements cell of NSUT actively calls guest professors for valuable insights. They also call industry experts for their guidance. There are various programs and activities going on during placements like interview preparation, group discussions etc. Some renowned companies, which visit our university, include Apple, Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Uber, etc. The average package in our branch is 17 LPA and the highest domestic packages rise upto 60 LPA. As I'm in first year, I'm not eligible for placements yet.

Yes, the university provides hostel facilities for students. There are total of 5 boy’s hostels, in which one hostel is for foreign students and 4 hostels are there for Indian students. For girls, there are two hostels. There are around 250 seats available for 1st year students and your probability for getting accommodation in hostel depends upon the distance of your home from university. There is high probability of getting a seat in hostel if your home is more than 40 KM from the university. Badminton Courts and TT tables are available there in hostel for recreational purposes. The mess food is served for 4 times: Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks, and Dinner. The menu is good but the food quality is average. Hostel fee is to be paid after every 6 months and its Rs. 1,18,000 for single room without air conditioner for the first year students. Hostel timings for first year students are around 10 PM and for seniors, it's till 12 PM. So far, I'm having a great experience in hostel.

The university has a great infrastructure. The area of the university is also quite good. There are more than 5 academic blocks, one main admin building, student activity centre building, training and placement building, hostel buildings, sports complex, etc. The campus is spread across 145 acres and it's located in Dwarka. Metro station and Vegas Mall are located at just 1 KM away from the university. Classrooms are also well maintained and air-conditioned, especially first year students’ lecture hall complex. Digital means are used for teaching purposes. All other academic facilities like library, labs, and auditorium are also there and well maintained. There is state of the art sports complex having great athletics track. Personally, I like hangout spots like Amul Gardens and Lawns. In addition, several blocks are being constructed for academic purposes.

The overall campus life is great. The university crowd is also excellent. There are more than dozens of societies. I'm part of Intaglios: The Design Society of NSUT. You can showcase your talent in any of these societies. There are various extracurricular activities which are organized especially fests. The main cultural fest Moksha is one the best in Delhi region. It occurs during March and the crowd during the fest is immense. Artists who have previously performed during Moksha Fest are Raftaar, King, Sunidhi Chauhan, etc. The campus life is also amazing and there are numerous hangout spots where you will big groups of students hanging around after classes.
