Legal Education at UPES School of Law in Dehradun

My experience at UPES has been positive. The students are active in competitions and committees, which create a lively environment at campus. The faculty members, especially in the law department are highly qualified and they teach beyond the syllabus, ensuring we get a deeper understanding of the subject. I chose UPES because of my mentor, who I trust and who guided me to believe that this Institute would offer the right academic and personal growth opportunities. Others should consider UPES for its strong academic focus, excellent faculty, and active student participation. The peaceful environment in Dehradun enhances the overall experience making it a great place to learn and grow.

I choose the five year integrated BA.LLB (Hons) program at UPES Dehradun because I was always aspired to become a lawyer. This course offers an excellent foundation for both law and liberal arts which helps me understand legal concepts and their practical applications. The entry requirements for this course at UPES includes the minimum of 50% marks in both class 10th and class 12th along baby entrance exams that is provided by UPES. For the specific details about the eligibility requirements can easily be found on the official Institute website. There are many ways through which you can get admission into UPES. My course exams are held in a semester twice- mid semester exams and semester exams along with regular internals and assignments throughout the semester. Through various case studies, internships and legal research projects, the curriculum provides a strong foundation in legal principles enhancing critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills.

The faculty members at UPES School of Law of my course are quite over qualified and there teaching method is really good. Many faculties are from tier 1 Institutes. There methods involve blackboard, ppts and group discussions. The faculty is quite approachable for anything you want to discuss with them. The teacher student ratio is appropriate. Faculty members also go beyond their syllabus and classes to help you, if you want to write research papers with them or some other competitions.

The placements at UPES School of Law are average. The placement activities and programs are conducted by the Institute in order to prepare the students for placement. Some renowned companies that do come for the recruitment purpose like tier 2 or 3 companies. Packages offered by the recruiters are average. The average package is 3 to 4 lakh and highest would be around 10+ lakh.

I have never opted for the campus Institute hostel so I cannot give my review on it.

The UPES School of Law has infrastructure with well-equipped classrooms, lecture halls, seminar rooms, and conference halls, library, food courts, cafes, and gymnasium. Overall there are two campuses of the Institute, one is Kandoli (it is for the law where I study and other courses are also there) and Beholds is the main campus famous for its engineering. The favorite thing about the Institute infrastructure is the place where the Institute is located as Dehradun is a hill station, so you can see the mountains all over the place.

Overall campus life at UPES School of Law is quite decent. Institute crowd for me is mixed crowd. There are a lot of clubs, committees to join in. Fests and events do happen but not so much. Extracurricular activities do happen. Overall experience for me is quite good from the starting and still it is nice because of the people I met from the starting.
