Student’s Life at MCC Chennai: Journey to Success

Overall Rating
I had excellent experience in Madras Christian College. The fact that MCC Chennai was near my home state Kerala made all the difference. I could go home whenever I want, as it would take only about a 12 hours travel home. I was also fluent in Tamil, so speaking to locals and socializing was a walk in the park to be honest. This college also had an exceptionally good ranking in the all India NIRF ranking, with best in the country education and top facilities made me choose it among all other educational institutions.
 

Academics Rating
The entry requirements are quite simple. There are no entrance exams. We do have a cut off mark of around 85%. Still it is easier to achieve that in your 12th grade. Apart from that, everything is pretty easy. There will be a student friendly interview which will be pretty easy. We will have 3 ICA exams throughout each semester. ICAs are basically internal exams for your semester. Marks of this exam add up to your semester exam marks, so be careful about them. Then we will have an end of semester exam.
Fee structure is pretty basic. I had to pay Rs. 58,000 for the first semester and then Rs. 25,000 on the second semester. Rs. 40,000 were to be paid in the third semester and Rs. 25,000 in the fourth semester. During last year, Rs. 44,000 were to be paid in the fifth semester followed by Rs. 28,000 in the final sixth semester.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty is decent, highly educated, and knowledgeable. However, they can be considered very old fashioned and have a very stubborn back minded mentality. They are more than adequate and apt for teaching us.
 

Placement Rating
Our college provides placement opportunities for sure. However, you should have scored at least above 7 CGPA to land in any one of them which is not that easy to do to be honest but still there are options if you are ready to work for it.
 

Hostel Rating
I have not opted for the college hostel but I know the fee structure, its Rs. 44,000 per annum with an additional charge of Rs. 6,000 for mess.
 

Infrastructure Rating
MCC Chennai is a vast college. It has 390 acres of land in its name, and that is very large for a college to maintain to be honest. We are not lacking any facilities either. we have an infirmary, a canteen, a student’s center, women’s lounge, Green sequel, bell tower, MMIP facility for innovations & startups, scrub society & wild life welfare club for maintaining this vast piece of land including its flora and fauna.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is amazing. College crowd has mainly Tamil students. Therefore, it is better if you know Tamil. It’s easier to socialize that way. We have many opportunities just to venture out the future startups and mold its founders. It’s called MMIP with collaboration of MRF a tire-manufacturing giant. Our college built a facility for startup incubation, which is actually amazing to be honest.

    MCC Chennai is an iconic place to study in Chennai. Its fame, culture and years of existence are different from the other colleges in Chennai. The campus is so beautiful, that we could stay there for hours. It is a place to feel and appreciate the nature and study along with it.     Madras Christian College is a reputed college with a good NIRF Ranking. It has a very good environment but the infrastructure is quite vintage.     MCC stands at the 6th position in India for Bachelor of Business Administration. That's why I chose MCC and also MCC started the first open college cultural in Asia called Deepwoods. MCC also has several clubs for students to explore and excel in different fields. MCC also provides scholarship for specific group of students and students with single parent.     There is no exam for the entrance of UG course in MCC. In MCC, you can go only on behalf of the percentage that you have scored in 12th grade. Madras Christian College is the most popular private college in Chennai and because of this; it has tied up with many top companies. Tambaram Railway Station was the closest to MCC.
