Accounting & Finance Program from MCC Chennai: Admission, Fees, and Exams

MCC Chennai is an iconic place to study in Chennai. Its fame, culture and years of existence are different from the other colleges in Chennai. The campus is so beautiful, that we could stay there for hours. It is a place to feel and appreciate the nature and study along with it. None of the animals are caged; we can see monkeys, deer, porcupines, and more such animals roaming around the campus. The buildings are old but strong, and look astonishing. My experience of three years can never be forgotten.

I chose Bachelor of Commerce with specialization in Accounting and Finance. I chose this course because of my interest in Mathematics and Accounting. The admission process was straightforward; to apply for the course, you have to do it online. Exams are conducted once in 1.5 months, there are 3 internal exams, 2 of which are written and 1 is a project or assignment. Out of which, the best 2 will be taken for the calculation of the 50% marks in semester.

The yearly fee I paid for the first year was Rs. 67,000. For first semester, it was around Rs. 44,500 and Rs. 22,500 during the 2nd semester. This varies for different semester especially in odd semesters, which are the 3rd and 5th sem, these sem fees range from Rs. 32,000 to Rs. 35,000. The fees include management fees, lab fees, tuition fees etc.

Faculties are good at teaching; they use various methods like presentations, blackboards, PPT sharing, online quiz, etc. to entertain students by using the portions of the subject. Most of the faculties are PhD holders, and the way they communicate to the students is really good and understandable. They help the students to solve their doubts at any time. We can contact them through WhatsApp or call for clearing out doubts. They are very approachable. However, there are teachers who are partial to the students as well, not many but few. Rest everything is great.

There is a placement cell in our college, and we can approach them to gather more details or information relating to the recruiting company. There was a placement-training program conducted by the placement cell during the end of our 4th semester, and it was helpful to crack tests, GD and interviews. Deloitte, Deloitte Tax LLP, Zomato, Edu-versity, EY- India, W3Global, Standard Chartered, TCS and McKinsey & Company were few renowned companies that visited this year for recruitment. The average package offered ranged from 3 LPA to 3.6 LPA. The highest package was from Standard chartered, it was 6.6LPA.

The college offers residential facilities. Hostels in our college are called Halls; there are 3 halls for boys and 3 halls for girls. The food there is good and hygienic. The hall fees are a bit high.

The campus is huge, the total area comes around 360 acres. Most of the buildings are old but there are modernized buildings as well in the campus. Classes are conducted in various classes and departments. Library is spacious, large, and old. Labs are air-conditioned and the facilities are new. Seminar hall, auditorium and conference halls are very modern with push back seats, air conditioned facilities, and presentation facilities. Food in the canteen is not so hygienic and I prefer not to have food from the cafeteria. There is an infirmary in the campus for medical assistance and it is open all the time. Security roams all around the campus. The bathrooms were renovated recently and are good, hygienic, and new. My favorite thing about the college is the nature; the college is situated in the middle of a forest. We can see animals roaming around the campus. It is the best.

My campus life was good, as there were many events during my first year of college, the college cultural fest ‘Deepwoods’ was amazing. Department events by various departments, Hall events with evening showdowns where bands, musicians and artists take part and perform, all are a great experience. The campus has its natural beauty, but it is not well maintained by the management. I faced trouble in the parking space. There are clubs like NSS, NCC and Scrub Society. I was part of the NSS and it was a really nice experience and I had great exposures through it, I went on volunteering camps such as Wall Painting, Sports Events Judge and I had built good bonds through it.
