Student’s Life at DAV University Jalandhar

Overall Rating
DAV University is situated on the national highway, which makes the commute here easier for students who live at a distance. The university is an ideal option for students who are from Himachal Pradesh or nearby state. It has students from numerous states which increases unity among students.
 

Academics Rating
I am enrolled in Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) with Computer Science and Engineering as specialization. The course curriculum makes students industry ready. The university conducts DAVUET (DAV University Entrance Test) for admission to various UG and PG courses. If you fail to qualify DAVUET, you can also get admission on the basis of 12h class marks. Mid-semester and end-semester examinations are conducted in my course. If you can score well in mid-semester examinations, than you can easily pass in the end-semester examination.
The fee in my program varies for each semester. The fee for even semester is Rs. 65,500 and the odd semester fee is Rs. 67,500. Students also have to pay Rs. 10,000 as security deposit which is refundable after graduation. The university provides scholarships to students on the basis of 12th class, DAVUET, and CUET score. SC/ST category students can access 100% scholarship from the state governments. Furthermore, there are other scholarships such as Army Veteran's child, Scholarship based upon 12th class marks etc.
 

Faculty Rating
Each subject has at least 2-3 well-qualified faculties. HoD of my department is from NIT and all the faculties are Ph.D. scholars. They use various teaching methodologies such as mind map to helps students develop their skills and knowledge. The teachers are quite approachable and you can reach then for any kind of academic or general issue.
 

Placement Rating
The university has built strong industrial collaborations with reputed companies to offer good placements to students. It also organises a lot of pre-placement events such as guest lectures where experts from various domains give industry insights to the students.
 

Hostel Rating
The university has a separate hostel for both girls and boys. Approximately, 400-500 students can reside at the hostels. In A Hostel Night is conducted by the university's administration every semester, where famous singers and dancers entertain the students. The hostel food could be improved. The annual hostel fee is Rs. 90,000 for a 3 occupancy room. Hostellers need to take permission from the warden for any type of outings.
 

Infrastructure Rating
There are 3 blocks at the university which include the administration, AC, and AB block. The campus is spread over an area of about 70 acres .There is a library, food centre, dispensary, and an auditorium with a seating capacity of 500-600 people. The university provides transportation facility for day scholars. My favourite place is the student centre which offers a lot of recreational activities. I like to spend my time there with my friends.
 

Campus Rating
My campus life is great. There are a lot of clubs and societies such as literary club, art and creativity club, singing & dancing club, NSS, etc. The university also has NCC battalion which helps students nurture their leadership skills, develop personality, and build confidence.

    It's my second semester at DAV University Jalandhar and my experience from last all time is very good. The college is ragging free and the seniors are very supportive. Students are mostly sincere and there are no political issues, so it helps us to focus on our studies better.     Last year 2020 I passed out from DAV University. I would love to share my views on my university that has given me so many experiences and a lot of confidence. The university is still under development or I will say its developing university as they are still working on their infrastructure.
