DAV University B.Sc Allied Health Sciences Review By Anchal Sharma

Last year 2020 I passed out from DAV University. I would love to share my views on my university that has given me so many experiences and a lot of confidence. The university is still under development or I will say its developing university as they are still working on their infrastructure. Every department of the university pays attention towards the extracurricular activities which was the best part as they were not only focused about studies. Crowd of the campus were not as updated as per my expectations. The students there were mostly from villages or localite, which had a great impact on the crowd of the campus. The university gives many opportunities to students to show their talents and make contacts with seniors or juniors. I would give all the credits to DAV University Jalandhar from where I discovered that I can do modeling or I am confident enough to face any obstacle or any other problem.

Academic part was really well in our department but it varies from department to department. As academics in MBA department or BAJMC was not enormous. Some departments had brilliant effect in studies but at the same time others had very poor effect. Our department was mostly focused about the theory part rather than lab work, which should be their priority. They should work on their labs and research work. The education system at DAV University is well planned as there is semester system, therefore there are six semesters in all. Every semester students are provided with proper time table for lectures. Every alternate week we had quiz and surprise test and presentations which helped us to boost our confidence and many other activities like science fest, science quiz to be taken care of.

On the faculty part, some were very partial not all but some of them definitely were. Faculty of DAV University had vast experience in research work as all of them were doctorate, PhD holders from Panjab University, Shimla University, GNDU etc. except partial nature all the faculties were highly educated and cooperative with students. They made direct contact with students. HOD of every department had friendly nature with students or with CRs. There were no intermediates between HOD and students. The best part of the teachers was they always pay attention to the doubts of each and every student or any other query about their future.

Well the placements in the university was not up to mark. There was not 100% placement. Students had to bother about their placements, especially students from B.Tech or MBA department. Very few companies come to the campus and very less number of students got placed. There is very uncertainty in the placement part. 7-8 lakh is the highest package till now, which is not superior. I think university should work on this, because this is one of the reasons the ranking of our university has dropped. If the student is getting half of the package of the fee which he had paid, then it’s not worth. No doubt companies do visit to our campus but the real problem started with the package they gave.

The campus has its own hostels for both boys and girls. Living in a hostel was totally worth as the rooms were not congested and ac rooms were also available and it was not a compulsion to stay at the hostel. There was separate study room for the students to study if they can’t study in their rooms and there was a huge common area where students used to do their chores. And a TV was also there for the students. Hostel provided us 3 meals a day that is breakfast, lunch, dinner and also evening snacks. The quality of food was not that bad but also not good, it was in between of good and bad. Security was very tight in girls hostel but for boys it wasn’t as they can roam anywhere in the campus no matter what the time is unlike girls. Students who were day scholars were not allowed to enter the hostel but they were allowed to have lunch in the mess by paying per plate. The fee structure was around 60-70,000 per year. The university gives relaxation to SC and ST students by providing scholarships to them.

The university has huge area. There is a separate sports ground and a separate ground for physical education students for their activities. The campus library is also there which is open for both hostlers and day scholars for 24 hours, and it has n number of books. In campus there is separate gym for both girls and boys and it’s free for hostellers. All the students are very friendly, there is no fear of ragging, and seniors are very genial. Dispensary is also there for medical aid for all the students. University provides a lot of opportunities that actually make students better in every field. For the food part canteen and cafeterias are also there. The only flaw of university is rooms are not air conditioned and auditorium is there for the functions and the fests.

I really felt overwhelmed by remembering my old days in the campus. I have spent three years in the campus and had so many memories to cherish. The university had played very important role in building my personality, not only mine even in every student’s life. My campus life was really amazing I got very good friends there. Every year university held hostel night in which Punjabi singers used to come those nights have special place in my heart. Every festival had been celebrated there by the campus doesn’t matter its Holi or Diwali. Being a girl its big fear to get bad comments by boys, the university is very friendly as there were not these kind of boys. Every department had its own activities which helped in polishing our personalities. The positive and negative points I have mentioned about my university is from the core of my heart.
