BHU's Faculty of Law: Academics, Teachers, and Facilities

For me, BHU Varanasi is one of the best universities in India to study Law. The biggest strength of the Faculty of Law here is its alumni network. From judges in various High courts to practicing advocates across the northern India, alumni are spread across the legal landscape and that's the reason that it is also known as ‘Judges Factory’. This alumni base acts as a guiding light and support system for current students. Seniors are very cooperative and always ready to help juniors. One unique feature is its interdisciplinary access. A Law student can easily approach faculty from other departments like Political Science, Sociology, or Psychology to gain deeper insights into the subject matter something that adds real value to legal research and academics projects like writing papers or engaging socio-legal studies. Another major reason for choosing this one is its affordability.

The course is very much adapted to judiciary syllabus and it is very helpful for someone who wants to go in this field or any got services like APO. The eligibility criteria are to be 12th pass with any stream and admission is through CUET. Admission process is simple just give this entrance exam which is conducted on a yearly basis and register for this university in the preference list of CUET.

Semester wise fee is Rs. 36,150. For hostel, it is around Rs. 5,500 and mess charges depend on you. There are some scholarships available, which one should opt according to their eligibility.

Faculty of BHU Varanasi is one of the best. They are not only highly knowledgeable in their respective field but also bring years of practical experience. Honestly, in some specialized subjects such high level of intellect and depth is hard to find in the whole North India. Yea teaching method is traditional but very efficient in making complex legal concepts easier to understand. Group discussion and interactive sessions are also part of the classroom environment, which helps students develop a clear and critical perspective. They used to conduct many workshops and other sessions, which definitely used to help us. I find them very approachable and ready to help us but also there are some exceptions.

In the Faculty of Law, there is placement cell named as Internship and Placement Cell. Most of the students go for the government jobs like APO and judiciary or go for higher studies.

Hostel is very much affordable. But, it is hard to get hostel because of limited seats. One can get room on rent outside campus, which is also a good option, and near to the faculty. Else, the food quality is good and the hostel facilities are up to the mark.

About the whole BHU, it is a town in itself. But if I talk about Law faculty, it is also good. Locality is wonderful and one can get basic amenities easily. Classrooms are big with the capacity of almost 100 students each. We have a central library, which has almost 13 Lakh books. There is also library for Law students with almost 83000 books. One can issue books easily or can read it in the library itself, as there is huge sitting space. In the university, there are gym, swimming pool and other facilities one can opt easily.

Campus life is wonderful because of rich culture of the city. University has more than 30000 students. Fests and events are conducted regularly. Recently Spandan named annual fest was organized.
