Student’s Perspective about SGGSCC New Delhi

Overall Rating
SGGSCC New Delhi is affiliated to Delhi University. The infrastructure here is very good as compared to the other colleges. Teachers are also very helpful. The library is really good, as it provides you with good books, that you need for every semester. Course options are limited here because it is a Commerce College, but the staff is very good and I would choose this college over any college. It is an off campus college of DU ,which makes the campus area a little boring but we still have NSP market and Pacific Mall to hang out.
 

Academics Rating
The college has a good academic curriculum. I am doing is B.Com honors and I chose this course because I want to go in the finance filed. The admission process is very clear. It is through CUET scores. The course is divided into 6 semesters. Exams are held twice a semester. First one is a mid semester exam, which prepares students for the end semester exams. Second one is the end semester exam conducted by the DU. Overall, the academic system is really great in this college, as the study material is provided by the teachers and course books are available in the library also.
The fee of my course is very affordable. It is Rs. 34,000 per year. We also have to pay the examination form fee every semester, which is around Rs. 1200 to Rs. 1500. Scholarships and financial assistance are available for students, who are economically disadvantaged. Merit based scholarships are also provided to the students who performs really good academically.
 

Faculty Rating
Teachers here come from Sikh background mostly. The teachers are very well educated and their method of teaching is good. But there are some teachers who are not helpful. Some faculty members are very friendly while some can be rude. Method of teaching is mostly through PPTs and some teachers also teach from their books. Teacher-student ratio varies department wise; for some it is good and for some departments, more hiring is required. Teachers are very approachable; we can usually find them in the staff room. Overall, the college has good faculty members.
 

Placement Rating
There is a training and placement cell in the college. They have their group where they regularly post about all the internships that are available for all the students including first year, second year, and third years. Placements are available from 3rd year onwards. Many renowned companies visit the college for recruitment like KPMG, EY, PwC, Deloitte, etc.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, SGGSCC New Delhi offers hostel facilities, but it is only for girls, as there is only a girls’ hostel. I am not aware of the total rooms in the hostel but I guess there are around 50 to 60 students in the hostel. Rooms are both air conditioned and non air conditioned. There is a common drawing room, where there is a refrigerator and an induction, where the students can cook whatever they want. The food in the mess is good, only except for some days. So, the mess food should be improved. The hostel entry is till 10 PM.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure of the college is great. There are three blocks in total A, B, and C. These are divided as per the courses and course year. The classrooms are very spacious. At least 100 students can fit in one classroom. Facilities like library, lab, auditorium, and conference hall, all of these are available in the college. The food at the canteen is very good. The securities are also very good at the gate. Transportation is not provided by the college so, we have to travel by ourselves. The college in itself is not a very big college, but it is very clean and very well maintained. Overall, campus provides good infrastructure.
 

Campus Rating
The college crowd is mostly Sikh due to the Sikh minority status applied by the students. Many societies are there so, many fests and events take place on regular basis. I am a part of the dance society of my college, which is ‘Misba Dance Crew’. Many societies are available for the students. I had a satisfactory experience here till now.

College provides both personal and professional development opportunities.     SGGSCC New Delhi was my one of my priority when I was looking for admissions and I was very happy when I made it. The College is very beautiful and nice with good infrastructure. It’s quite a competitive College with good societies and professors. In my opinion, it’s one of the best Colleges of Delhi University and in India for Commerce.     I started my college journey in August 2024, after a CUET score of 490/650. I got into my dream course from this college. The college is really one of the best in the Delhi University. The courses offered by the college are unique. The infrastructure is best with canteen, a very prestigious Gurudwara in the college lawn, and a huge Auditorium.
