Campus Life in NIT Kurukshetra: Student Clubs, Societies, and Events

In this institute, the overall experience is very good. It has a great past of 59 years. Factors that made me choose this particular institute is its reputation in market. This is the main factor; other factors are infrastructure, faculty, location and placement. This institute is no.1 in engineering institutes in Haryana so I choose this. In addition, its placement is better than any other institute of Haryana. Its faculty is very helping in nature they help every student who wants to achieve anything. Also they are very knowledgeable.

I have chosen B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering because I have very high interest in Automobile sector. Mechanical Engineering is the most famous branch of our institute. To get admission in this institute you have to qualify 12th with a minimum percentage of 75. However, if you belong to SC/ST then you require 65 percent of marks. After that you are required to give JEE Main exam and get a minimum of 94 percentile. Again, if you belong to SC/ST then you required less. After that, you have to appear for consulting. If you get a seat then verification of documents is done at institute and the you pay the fee. In B.Tech, you have to appear for 2 mid sem and 1 end sem examination every semester. You have to prepare yourself to excel in career.

The total fee was around Rs. 1,10,000 for academic year 2024. However, if your family income is between 1lakh to 5lakh your fee is around 70k.

All faculties are PhD holders; some are from IITs and some are from different NITs. All are experts in their field. They teach according to requirement of subject, if the subject requires animation, then they use smart boards otherwise blackboards. Some teachers of theory subjects also teach using smart boards with the help of PPTs. The problem solving ability of teachers is good. Teacher to student ratio of my institute is 1:15 that was very bad. My bonding with teachers is not very good but if you required any help from them, they help you.

The institute has a placement cell, which is responsible for student’s placement. Many students are the part of it and they invite companies to the campus. There is Group Discussion round conducted by institute, which help us in placement. In addition, a placement PPT related work is given for 6th sem students to get a good job. The highest package was around 64 LPA, median is around 9 LPA, and average of 12.6 LPA was given.

NIT Kurukshetra has its hostels, around 11 boys’ hostels and 4 girls’ hostels. There are total of around 5,300 – 5,500 students in it. All hostels are good in infrastructure and all have water and electricity. It also have basic thing like furniture etc. Mess food is good. Hostel fee is included in institute fee but you have to pay 30k per semester for mess food that is given 3 times a day. No timing is there for hostel for boys but a timing of 8:30PM is there for girls. No smoking, no drinking are some rules of hostel. Meat and meat related product are not allowed here. The quality of the rooms can be worked upon, as they were very small and unhygienic.

There is a Golden Jubilee hall, which is the academic block of collage. In addition, their building structure is earthquake proof. Campus size is around 290 acres. The campus contains library, a small auditorium called Jubilee Hall, and a Senate Hall, which is the conference hall. This institute is situated in rural area of kurukshetra called thanesar. Classrooms have blackboard, smart board and a projector in every classroom there is a lecture hall in institute. There are around 1,100 seats for B.Tech students and 500 seats for M.Tech students. The institute has 3 canteens, 1 sports complex, and 1 swimming pool. For transportation, there are E-Rickshaw facilities. Security is very tight. The institute even has a small lake called NIT lake, which I like most.

Overall campus life is fantastic. The nightlife in campus is also very good. The crowd is very good but some bad students are also there. There are many clubs for different course students. Like for Mechanical students, MECHSOC is a Technical Society and for other courses, there are other such societies. I am the part of Bus Club of collage. There are mainly two fests of NIT Kurukshetra. One is ‘Confluence’ and other is ‘Techspardha’. It is the tech fest of our institute. They organise many events, which improve student’s mindset.
